Dude i didn't have problems this bad when I was a teenager. But ..(and I hope this doesn't gross anyone out :blink:) you know those bumps you can get that are under the skin and just really hurt but you can never get anything out of them except clear fluid? They just are the bane of your existence? Well all of a sudden my chin has gone nuts and I have a CLUSTER of those on one side, like 5 right next to each other, then 2-3 on the other side and looks like across the bottom of my chin. First I thought it might be the new Bobbi Brown makeup I bought, because I accidentally got the kind for dry skin, but if that was the problem, why would it affect ONLY the chin area? my nose and the rest of the T-zone where I am usually the oilest are fine, but this is nutso. Anyway, I've been using astringent at night and just praying it would go away but it's getting worse so I thought I would ask here and see if anyone had any suggestions for some kind of cream or something to get rid of it?

they're called cystic pimples and they SUCK!! I have very dry skin, but I get them every now and then and they hurt like the dickens! Your sudden outbreak is *probably* hormonal, Amy. I would go see a dermatologist and see what they say. Oh, and don't try and pop them. When you squeeze a cysitc pimple, the bacteria just gets pushed further into your skin and causes more of them.

Good luck hon!

This happened to me after having my boys. Its a pain in the arse.

I now try not to touch my face at all and change my pillow case often.
And in the morning I wash with a Benzoyl Peroxide face wash and at night with a salicylic acid wash. It takes a little over a week to see results, but it helps a TON. If you use them you need a good non greasy/oily face moisturizer.

yes to what jenny said. cystic pimples. warm compresses and for the love of pete DO NOT pick at them. they don't/won't come to a head and you will make it worse by picking.

but I can't stoooooooooooooooooooop!! OMG there needs to be a 12 step program for pimple poppers!! Luckily though I just checked and the astringent I've been using has salicylic acid so I'll just keep doing that and tie my hands behind my back :)

Oh I have gotten them for years and years and years. In addition my skin is so sensitive, I even break out when I put handcream on ('cause I touch my face). It is horrible and so unfair :(
I hoped having babies would change my hormones, but no luck. I finally took the plunge and tried Proactive on August (heck why not, I'd tried everything else on and off the market).
~~~(heavenly music begins to play)~~~
It worked!!! It even stopped, I mean completely stopped, the cystic breakouts. I kid you not! I have never had better skin (granted I still have lots of scarring left behind).
Like Lizzy said, for goodness sake don't pick! Good luck hon.
All I can add is, Ouch! Those kind always hurt.
Clean and Clear has the benzoyl peroxide (I think). I switched to that while I was pregnant since salycic acid is on the list of do not use products. I only use the clean and clear now and it works fairly quickly for me.
Yeah to what everyone said I use a product through clinical care called destroy zit and I go and zap them with electricity to kill the bacteria that's hiding under the skin you can get it done at a salon just ask for a machine facial
