Have you read Connie Willis? Specifically The Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing Of The Dog?

Both are excellent and the latter is one of my favourite books. Just curious because you mentioned loving scifi/time travel, etc. To Say Nothing Of The Dog does have the element of romance, but it's not romancey (because that would make me barf and it wouldn't be a fave book :D)

Anyhoo, was curious if you've read them, or if there are other fans out there, and I'm recommending them if you haven't. And this reminds me I'm about due for a reead!

Song of Albion is the series by Steve Lawhead I was refering to in that thread. It's about a 'modern day' Oxford student who is drawn into ancient Scotland and becomes the king. We love the books!

I am such a bad reader lately (teh interwebz iz killing mah brainz!). I used to devour books, often at the pace of one a day, and lately I just don't take the time to curl up with a good book at all. I need to make a less time online, more time reading resolution. The Lawhead series definitely looks right up my alley! In fact, I'm sure I've had it recommended to me, back before the internet ate my brain. :D

To Say Nothing of the Dog is a great read! I love it, great story & funny. Doomsday Book was very good but a bit depressing. But it was the Black Death, so i wasn't expecting funny.
