Duolingo - anyone?

Sooooo... this year (last month) I made a list of things I want for me.
Let me start telling that: I am craaazy about lists - and I don't remember the last time I was able to actually finish one of my lists.
Buuuut... The thing is: one of the things from my list was try to start learning Italian.
If you are not @KristinCB (or Val) you probably don't know that, but I am CRAZY about Italy. I wish I could just move there NOW.
But I didn't know a word in italian, so here I am: doing duolingo without paying for it because I can't pay for anything in this life. lol

I am not sure if american do duolingo, but all brazilian are doing these days. Brian, the teenager, is doing English. Ivan, the boyfriend, is doing dutch.

LOL and he needs to do it from English to Dutch because it doesn't have Portuguese/Dutch. sometimes, when he is doing, I am sit on his side and like WHAT?? too difficult for my brain lol

That doesn't sound easy when English is not your native language!

My husband and I have been learning Spanish for over a year now. We were motivated to learn because we had a trip to Mexico planned last fall. While we still aren't great at speaking it, it was helpful when we shopped and did self-checkout at the Walmart in Cancun =) Good for you, Ru, for going after something new for yourself!

I need to check this out. My daughter in law is from Nicaragua and mainly speaks Spanish. I'm not very good with languages but I am hoping to learn some Spanish to better converse with her.

I wanted to learn Dutch, but there aren't any Portuguese to Dutch options, and I didn't know there was an English to Dutch option. I already know Spanish and I get by well anywhere that speaks Spanish. But English is something I forget easily, and since translators are now on cell phone keyboards, I don't develop my grammar, which is why I find Duolingo fun.

I spent almost 2 weeks there and I am pretty sure it is my place in the world

awww I love Italy too and took italian for 3 years in school. I loved it!

My girls have used Duolingo for French, piano and chess. But we had to tell them to stop because they would constantly ask for the phone to do their daily thing and it was just becoming an addiction unfortunately. That's how they get you to not lose your streak.
