UPDATED (AGAIN): NSD + May Winner Announced + Last Comment Wins May!

What’s everyone up to this weekend? We did yard work all morning and thinking of a wood fire and wiener roast as it’s finally nice out!

We did some shopping today, tomorrow is mothersday, so we're going to visite my mom (parents) and in the late afternoon my daughter and her new boyfriend will visite us to celebrate mothersday and my birthday which is the day after

It's Mother's Day in Belgium as well. My mom, Finn and I went shopping yesterday. Finn wanted to stay and play at my parents' house, so Ward and I had a nice evening just the two of us.
When Finn comes back home in a few hours, we will go to the zoo for a few hours.

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday and we went to a comedy club. We love going there but never actually take the time to go out so this was nice.

It's gloomy the entire weekend. Had to turn the central heating on.😒 On the bright side....excellent Netflix or Disney+ weather.

I feel like this is the first year in a long time that we had an actual spring here. We usually go from chilly weather to blazing hot, back and forth but nothing in between. This year we've actually been able to open the windows and enjoy!

That said, the weather is warming up this week, so we'll see how quickly things are scorching again.

What's everyone up to this week?

We're in the countdown to the end of the school year! Mixed feelings about that one. I love having my kids home for the summer, but I also like having quiet time to myself to recharge. My kids generally love school, but I think they like being home more, so I think it's a win for them.

But in the mean time we have a lot of end the school showcases and field days and parties to keep us busy!

Have been offline a lot since NSD... I even haven't scrapped. 🫣
The girls from 6th grade (last class in primary school here in the Netherlands) are planning a reunion. One of them had found old school photos, so we all took a trip down memory lane. Going to my mother's to see if i can find some old class pics as well from those years.
We left primary school back in 1988... most of us are already 50 or they will turn 50 later this year... most of them I haven't seen since the last day of primary school...

I needed a break after NSD too!!

That's wild about your primary school reunion. I have another high school reunion in the fall that I most definitely will not be attending. A lot of the same people I went to elementary school will be there because we also went to high school together. I keep tabs on everyone on social media, not too keen on catching up in person. Plus I'm already traveling back home earlier in the summer and another nine hour drive doesn't seem worth it.

As far as primary school goes though, I went to a school that mixed grades so first and second grade were in one class and third and fourth in another, so I was friends with not just people in my grade but in the grades above and below. Makes for a bit of a complicated reunioning!

During 1 year I had mixed grades as well. Wasn't my best year, also because the teacher didn't understand me...
Just realised that when I was in class 4 going on to the next class, the school system in the Netherlands changed. That meant that the first 2 classes that were kindergarten before, were now included in primary school. So from class 4 I went to group 7. So actually class 6 turned out to be group (or grade) 8.
On one hand I think it's fun to catch up with all these girls from back then. On the other hand, I didn't really fit in during primary school. There was a reason why I went to another secondary school than all the rest (most of them went to a town on one site of the village (northbound), I went completely opposite (westbound) to somewhere where I did fit in more).

After some colder and mostly wet days, we are heading for 29C (84F) next week. Finally... (although we have had some nice and sunny spring days as well, but then it turned to fall/autumn and next week will be summer).

It’s full on hot right now 92/33 degrees. But we’re going to have cooler weather soon with thunderstorms for days…

To change the subject:

For mother's days I got myself an Aeroccino 3 on sale. It makes cold foam for coffee. I made my first Freddo this morning and it was soooo good! I never have caffeine these days because it contributes to my migraines but it was so worth it. No migraine yet but I do feel like my heart is racing and I’m jittery. So I should probably get a decaf bean next.

If my math is right, we have the same anniversary!! Ours was last Friday (May 15th)?
We actually were lucky enough to take a quick trip to Vegas around it and see No Doubt at the Sphere the night of our anniversary 😃
Comedy clubs are so fun, hope you had a good laugh and happy belated anniversary!

aaahh that's awesome! Yes May 15th! For us it is our French anniversary as we call it because we got married here in the US a year and a half prior at the courthouse. So we celebrate two anniversaries a year... when we remember haha

Hahaha we have two anniversaries too!

One for our Macedonian wedding and one for our American wedding. We sort of have three if you count our reception which was in Macedonia but an month after our courthouse wedding… but who can remember all those dates?! 🤣

Okay, well this is crazy!
We have two anniversaries too 😳 I'm from France originally and we got married there (even though we live in and hubby is from Canada). So we have our civil wedding which was at city hall in the city my parents live in (that was May 10th in the Paris area) and then we have our church wedding in the south of France (Arles) on May 15th.

@Leablahblah where in France did you get married (and how come France?) the fluke is crazy 😃
@karlimarie I feel like two is very reasonable, three is taking it too far 😉😝

Okay, maybe not 2 wedding anniverseries per year for us, but our wedding day was the day before I turned 26! So it's always fun to have 2 celebrations straight after each other... And sometimes people get confused too...
Last year my husband turned 50, this year it was my turn, next year we are married for 25 years... In 2028 my mother turns 80 and in 2029 my daughter turns 25, while my sister hits the 50... All those celebrations after each other... Life is a party for sure, lol.

Our French wedding was just a fake one for show in Pernay (37) haha the mayor of my town (small village near Tours) is a friend of ours and accepted to run it like a real wedding. Because once you’re married in the US that’s it. If I wanted a French wedding we would have had to do that first and then I would have been screwed for legal papers to come back to the US. So we got married in the US. I didn’t have a visa anymore after being an au pair for one year then a visa extension for another year. I couldn’t legally leave and come back. So US court wedding, papers to get a green card then I could leave the country after that and that’s when we had the wedding reception in France.
My aunt and uncle owned a farm that they renovated for weddings so they let us do it there. It’s been sold since to a guy I used to date in high school haha small world!

That's awesome!
Even though I'm French and grew up there, I'm lucky to actually have been born in Canada during the 4 years while my Dad was posted there (French Air Force brat 😝). So I have dual citizenship and therefore we were able to just get whatever legal documents were needed notarized and in French here and then get married there! Arles was picked at random for the weather and the availability of a resort hotel that could host everyone for the reception and a few night and the priest accepted to marry us even though we didn't live there (the 12th century cathedral was a hit with the Canadians 😉).

That sounds like all the stars and moon aligned to get you married!
