If You Could Meet a Celebrity.........

We live about 15 minutes from Nashville. We have lived in the area for almost 40 years. During this whole time I have had only two celebrity sightings. Once, years ago, in the middle of an intersection in downtown Nashville, the singer Little Richard was turning in front of where my car was stopped at the light. He had his window down waving to everyone he passed. I remember thinking how nice he was. The second celebrity sighting was not in Nashville but was at Dollywood Theme Park. Dolly Parton had made an appearance that day. I always thought, if I could sit down and talk to a celebrity, I would like to talk to her. I would also like to meet Princess Kate. :). Who would you like to meet and talk to?
 
Fun! I would love to hang out with my favorite author- Kristin Hannah. She even lives here in WA state, but no where near me.

I've met a few celebrities over the year in chance encounters, but I always feel bad & don't want to be a 'super fan' or annoying selfie type of person. My daughter's best friend's dad is kinda youtube famous- her family has had bow hunting company forever and her dad has a youtube for bow hunters/set ups. He has a 2nd house outside nashville & does a lot of bow lessons/set ups for country music celebrities. He's super nice & we love his daughter like our own! ;)

That is awesome, Amie! I am sure he has a lot of interesting stories he could tell! :) Does his daughter know how to bow hunt? Has your daughter learned to bow hunt?
I thought more about the country music industry here and remembered that I have taught some students who had parents that had connections with country music. One boy's dad played the piano but I can't remember which group he was with. Another boy's dad played the guitar for a country music star and then he started his own group called "Cash Creek". I also know the frontman for the group "Lanco" and taught with his wife. They are both really sweet people. Brandon Lancaster, the frontman for Lanco, is the son of the founders of the Christian school I taught at - Lancaster Christian Academy. His father was Keith Lancaster who founded the Christian rock groups "Found Free" and "Bashing the Code".

We aren't really hunters at all, even though I grew up with my dad hunting. I think her BFF knows HOW and has a Bow, but I'm not sure when she's ever used it besides target practice. ;)

I think archery is fantastic. Yes, we're not hunters either although my dad grew up hunting. They had a large family during the depression so they had to hunt to have something to eat. I wouldn't make a good hunter. I wouldn't be able to pull the trigger or the bow.
 
I do a prompt like this for my fourth grade students for creative writing. If they got the chance to have lunch with a celebrity, who would it be? I throw in some dialogue writing as a requirement as well. I always love reading their responses to see who they would love to meet and what they would like to talk to them about.

If I think for myself though and answering that question, I'm not quite sure. 😄 When I was younger it would have been Jonathan Taylor Thomas (JTT), but now I don't know who I would want to meet.
 
Taylor Swift and her mom. I think she's a remarkable human being and insanely talented. I would just love to sit and watch her in a song writing session, and then ask questions. And her mom is such a supporter of Taylor, so I would like to meet her and chat about raising Taylor, and maybe have a nice meal with the two of them. One can dream, right?

Other than that, I think most of the people that I'd like to meet are all passed on.

I actually met an author one time. Melinda Haynes wrote Mother of Pearl, which was an Oprah Book Club novel. I was in a book club, and we decided to read the novel. I discovered she lived in Mobile, about an hour away from Pensacola. I worked at a law firm, and was able to find out her phone number, and actually called her. The cheek! Anyway, she agreed to meet with us at a local hotel and restaurant. Our club was small, like less than 6 of us. We chipped in together and bought her a pearl ring. She was quite delighted with our discussion of her work, and we were able to ask her questions. She said she had been to other book clubs, but felt that our club was more of what she thought a book club would be, with spirited discussion. Sooooo, time goes on. She moves in to a new house from the trailer her and her husband lived in. She had us over to discuss some books she liked and we swam in her pool and had lunch. I kept in touch with her for a long while, but haven't communicated with her for 10 years or so now.
 
I’ve always been a Hanson fan and have gone to many concert. I won a meet and greet once but it was with many others and we just got to hug and take a photo. Plus I’m so shy that I didn’t know what to say…
Sometimes after shows I wait outside by their tour bus and they’re so nice and come sign and take photos with you but besides saying hi I just don’t feel like I would have anything interesting to share with them.

That is awesome, Cheryl! That is amazing that you even got to go to her house for lunch and to swim! I will have to look up her book!

That is awesome that you got to meet in person! I had a student one year whose dad designed and made tour buses for stars. They got to meet so many stars. I think I would be tongue-tied if I met any of them in person but they were all so relaxed and at home with all of the people they came in contact with. They probably got to know them better when building their buses.
 
I would for sure want to meet an author. I went to a talk by my favorite Ruta Sepetys and got to talk to her for a minute, but I think having a real conversation about how she writes and chooses her stories would be awesome. Or Kristin Hannah or Fredrick Backman, two of my other favorite authors.
 
I'm a geek, I'd love to meet Nathan Fillion. My God parents lived across the street from Chuck Berry, I loved him. I called him my friend Chuck. I didn't know he was famous as a child. I've met some other actors my aunt was a Broadway star most people know her from West Side Story or younger people Full House

Fun topic @EvelynD2! I would have to say along with Cheryl, Taylor Swift and her mom. Our oldest granddaughter would need to be there as well as she is a huge fan!

For many years I was a huge Keith Urban fan. I met a handful of gals from all over the USA and Canada that were fans and one year we met up in Nashville for Keith's "Max it Out" benefit. Looking back I can't believe I flew by myself to N'ville and met up with ladies I'd never met before - lol, but that was then, wouldn't do that today, for sure! Anyways, we had a blast and after that, we met up frequently and traveled to his tours all over together for a few years (sometimes seeing the same concert 4 nights in a row in different cities / states). I think I've had 5 or 6 meet and greets with him. It was so silly, I had a KU handbag - KU shirts and my license plate was URBN FN 1 for many years (that is until grandbabies came around - lol - then my focus really changed).

I don't know anymore. These days I just keep myself to myself; it's less stressful that way.

When I was a kid, my school did Meet the Author events. Read a few books, get to go to an assembly, read more and get to attend a writing workshop, and I think it was 10 or 15 to eat lunch with the author in the school library. The year Bruce Coville came, I was already a fan and had read every book of his I could get my hands on. The librarian told him and he walked into the library, saw me reading at my lunch table as I was waiting, and asked "is that her?" That's a moment 5th grade me cherished.

High school/early college me met quite a few bands at shows. I got a lot of things signed at merch tables and lots of hugs. The funniest story is the local-ish giving out their demo outside Warped Tour one year. I followed them online and took my little brother (he was 10, I was 16) to see them at the indoor skatepark. Since we were the only fans there for them, their set kept getting pushed back until almost midnight. Little bro fell asleep and I had to wake him when it was their turn to play. The next year, they're playing at Warped Tour and played my favorite song *for me*. They don't usually play it but I had the lyrics on my shirt. After their set, the drummer came up to ask me where my brother was. 😂 I got to wander around with the lead singer, chatting and taking down their "come see us at[stage] at [time]" fliers. It was a blast.
 
I'm not much of a follower of celebrities. I dare say that I could be around dozens of them and not realise who they were! I would also probably hate to meet someone whose music I like or who I like to watch on the tv for them to be awful in real life. That would be really disappointing!
 
I don't know that I want to meet them really, but some of my faves would be Julie Andrews, or maybe Anne Hathaway. To meet for like 5 minutes and then go on my merry way really isn't my style. I would want to have a connection, something that they were interested in me too. I know that sounds odd, but they are so out of my daily world that it just seems silly.
