Mom thoughts....
Journaling reads:
Going to go the mailbox is never a fun thing for me - the box is not close to our home and it generally has just bills and magazines in it for us. However, I wasn?t prepared to pull out all these letters addressed to my daughter - letters from various colleges that were mostly out of state. I could feel my heart just stop never realizing that as a sophomore, we would be seeing letters from colleges and I have to admit - I also never gave any thought to the possibility of Amy leaving the state! Of course, my sadness increased when I saw her excited face look over all the college letters of interest and the possibility of what she could do in the future seemed to just surround her. She even jumped online to see what the colleges offered and quickly ordered catalogs to get a closer look. I know as a mom - that your kids will be growing up and going off on their own to pursue life....but really I am kind of not ready for that reality. I want more time to just snuggle, and hold my daughter and enjoy the silly high school things she does. I know in the end she will choose the best college to fit her future needs but for now.....I am just not ready to deal with this part of growing up.
