My oldest, Kaitlyn, is leaving the nest. She is moving in with a friend and her mom in Texas, and will be nearly 2500 miles away. We are excited for this first step into being on her own, but we will miss getting to be with her each day. She is opening a new chapter in her life and we are so proud of her!! *PNW in the journaling refers to the Pacific Northwest (we are near Seattle, WA).

Many scrappers have watched her grow up through my layouts! I am not done with her books, so you'll still see me scrap about her, but she does NOT take pictures or selfies so there may not be many new ones to come until I am with her again...LOL!

The journaling says:

Kaitlyn,
You are about to begin the first step on your journey to adult independence. You are leaving the only home you’ve ever known in the PNW and are moving to Texas. It is such a bittersweet time because as parents, we couldn’t be more proud of the young woman you’ve become, but you’ll always be our baby - our first, miracle story gift straight from Heaven. You know you could stay as your situation living with Audrey and her mom will really not be too different than what you have with us, but I totally understand that urge to be more on your own. We will always be in your corner! I am so happy for you that you have a friend to share it all with since you are doing online college classes and are not getting the dorm experience. I know that you’ll be home periodically for Christmas and such, but you need to know I’ll be counting the days in between and that my heart already really misses you. Your journey is just getting started and we are so excited for you. Know that the path is always a 2-way road and you are always welcome to come home as we will ALWAYS be your home no matter how far away you go. When I moved out, my Mom had the same feelings as I was her oldest girl too. She gave me a picture frame with a poem and the part that has always stuck with me was “My heart will always hold you though my arms have let you go”. It sums up exactly how I feel now that I am the Mom. You are my sweet angel and you can call on me whenever you need to. Only God can claim to love you more than I do.

I'm not crying...ok just a little bit. I remember when we were at SM and she was tiny. Beautiful page and journaling. I like how it's in the path. Wonderful pictures and use of the kit.

I've got goosebumps reading your letter, Lisa. Big hugs to you and I'm cheering for your girl and her future. I love how you document her growth photos and your letter describing your feeling.

So bittersweet. I'm betting this particular trail for her next journey DID surprise you when it first came up. But she'll get to experience a little bit of being out on her own but with a bit of back-up supervision from her friend's mom. Great page - thanks for linking me so I could read the journaling.

Awh i can imagine you are so proud of her. You journaled and scrapped it so beautiful. I think it must be so hard to not see or hear her everyday anymore. With a young adult at home also waiting for her time to come to move out i secretly hope it will take some time still lol.
