For me the nighttime meal is supper and the midday meal is lunch, unless it's a big dinner - LOL

Lunch is at noon. Dinner is in the evening.
Supper is what you and your DH go out for, if you are dining after 7pm. Before 7pm you are eating dinner. Though when I was growing up (north of where I live now) we had supper in the evening, lunch at noon. But we also called soda 'pop' |

Dinner here in the Southwest. I grew up in the Midwest and dinner and supper were interchangeable, but supper was used more on farms. But lunch was alway lunch!
