Since getting my Kindle, my eyes have been opened to a whole new world of books that I never would have found before, books that are written by indie authors. I gravitate toward these books because they are usually far less expensive than traditionally published books but in doing so I have found a quite a few gems.
I just thought that I would share a list of my favorites in case you are looking for a good, inexpensive read. All of these books are under $5. (I tried to put a category after each one, but I really suck at know genres.) On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves (mature Young Adult, contemporary romance) Slammed by Colleen Hoover and the follow up to that, Point of Retreat. (Young Adult, contemporary romance) Between the Lines by Tammara Webber (Mature Young Adult, contemporary romance) Flat Out Love by Jessica Park (Young Adult, contemporary romance) Existence by Abbi Glines (Paranormal, romance) Heart on a Chain by Cindy C Bennett (Young Adult, romance, involves story of abuse, very heart-wrenching) The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines (Mature Young Adult, Contemporary Romance) Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire (Contemporary Romance) Love Unscripted by Tina Reber (Contemporary Romance) Hollowland by Amanda Hocking (Paranormal, zombies) - currently free! And most of these books are also available to order in paper form too. I just reference the ebooks because they are less expensive. |

OMG yes! Pixel of Ink is the reason that I will never catch up on all the books I have. I have been trying to be a little more conservative with the free downloads, it was starting to get overwhelming.

Thanks everyone! I liked Pixel of Ink - Youth Edition on facebook so I can start snagging books for my daughter. She reads too fast to keep up with. I don't want to buy her a new kindle book every day and she reads about a book a day.

Sherri, most of the classics are also free on Kindle, those might be good to snag for her as well. Also, you can see if your library has any good young adult books available for kindle lending as well

I wish there were more freebies for youth. My 13 yr old has a Kindle Fire and there are very few free books that appeal to him.

Thanks - I didn't have a clue about this! I hope there are some for my 10-year-old daughter - she is whizzing through books on the kindle and buying them for 8-9 dollars each is a bit much!

After reading Melissa's recommendations here, I have read three of the books listed.
My favorites so far are On the Island and The Vincent Boys. The author of The Vincent Boys just came out with the sequel to it called The Vincent Brothers and I thought #1 was good, but boy is #2 even better! ::swoon:: |

Kelley - Have you tried your local library? Ours has e-books including a pretty good selection for kids. I love that it's free. They have both Kindle and Nook books at our library.

I'm glad I saw this! I have read 4 of the books on melissa's list (found them on my own), so I really look forward to trying some of her other suggestions. Right up my alley...other than the zombie one. Lol

I love the freebie books as well but recently got hooked to Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I loved her Highlander series before but could never get into the Fever series but finally it 'clicked'.

Do you all like the look on the Kindle screen? I have heard Kindle is easier on your eyes. I download ebooks from the library that can be burned to CD, so I can listen to them in the car. I consider a Kindle sometimes for plane rides though.

I love it. I use to read on my ipod/iphone and it would get to my eyes, start making them water, etc. I got a Kindle Touch for Christmas and I just love it so much! No more eye strain!

Just to say, those freebie links are ... complicating my life. I now have even more unread books on my kindle.
