New Album direction...

I think I am starting to love the idea of scrapbooks being done out of order. I usually just scrap randomly, but have printed the pages and put them in page protectors chronologically... nut those 12x12 albims are heavy so no one takes them out!!!
I think I'm gonna do a few books willy-nilly and see how they like them!

Yes, those 12x12 albums are so cumbersome to lug out and look through! That was how I started paper scrapping, but now when I actually do print it's 8x8 size!

We will figure this out together!!! We will have to update this post when we print albums or something, just to keep each other accountable with how it's going!

I still print 12x12 for me mainly so I can read the journaling when I look at the albums! However, when I print Shutterfly books, I print in the 10x10 size. They are usually gifts for others and not knowing if they would have a shelf that could hold 12x12, I know that the 10x10 will fit on a regular bookshelf. I did print a 10x10 for me of all my layouts documenting the pandemic instead of printing the 12x12 layouts.

8x8 is just too small for me if there is any journaling on the pages.

I agree there are times 8x8 is too small, but price wise, it is what works for me! I keep all my layouts (even ones I do print) so if they need to look at a page to read it better, I can always just pull up that layout and zoom in.

I scrap at 12x12 size and print at 8x8. I too have found that all of the 12x12 paper albums from my early paper years are really cumbersome to hold and are so heavy! 8x8 is a little small, but it has worked for me price wise and I like the size much better for shelf space needed and holding. I've got 12x12 versions saved too so if I want to print something at a bigger size later I can do it easily.

And, what if you are not around to pull up the layout to zoom in? Will someone know how to do that? Some people also have issues with reading on screens.

I've always looked at my printing as what is the best way for everyone to enjoy my work because not everyone has perfect vision especially as they age. I want my hard work to be appreciated by everyone who looks at it.

I also understand the price issues as I had the same thing when I first started out. Sales were my best friend and still are! I never buy prints or books at full price.

That's why I've settled on 10x10 Shutterfly books that I give as gifts. Not too small and not too big!

I also like the Shutterfly's 10x10 books, but lately I have been doing mostly Photobook America's 11x11 books ( just did one for my daughters engagement shoot and one for my sister of my niece) They feel big like the 12x12 but just a smidge smaller to fit on more shelves.

That would be a great size as well. I've never heard of Photobook America.
