Default Minimalist or Maximalist

Both irl & digitally, I really do love the look of minimalism, and wish it was achievable for me... BUT, I definitely am a maximalist. It's taken a bit for me to be okay with that fact. lol!

I've tried minimalist scrapping. I always feel like it needs "MORE"!

I've cleared things out in the house, but it feels too bare. At Christmas time, friend told me the house looks like Christmas threw up. And I'm okay with that.

So, I'm embracing my maximalist self

What about you... minimalist or maximalist? Or a bit of both?

Definitely a maximalist. Our house is overflowing with stuff and I always need just one more element on my layouts...

Minimalist here. I don't like clutter. Our house style is modern with clean lines, and lots of space, with not much in the way of trinkets etc on shelves. Could be the military side of us, but we like clear benches and everything in it's place. I think minimalism transfers to my scrapping style too. Although I do clusters etc on my layouts in order to showcase the elements in a kit, my natural preference is clean lines/graphic design style. If you look through my gallery you'll see that even on my 'busy' pages, I gravitate towards using solids instead of patterned papers as a way to balance the busy-ness with my need for clean and simple.

Maximalist wannabe minimalist! I like all the stuff, but don't want all the stuff/clutter. I'm not mad about it!

I'd say digi-wise, I'm a maximalist.

On the home front, I'd say both, if that makes sense. I don't like clutter, but I do like to decorate, so have quite a few "pretties" throughout our home.

I don't know. I do know I wish someonen would come and magically get rid of everything I no longer need even if i think i might need it (i'm talking to you big bin of random cords that I don't know if i need)

Maximalist. I have a regular amount of decorations up around the house, but at Christmas that increases. And while I love it, it feels so good to look around once it’s all taken down!

I like having things “handy” when I need them— craft supplies, office supplies, games, kitchen gadgets, clothing etc.
But I do have an excess of random clutter that I “just need time to go through” (books, teaching supplies, kids’ art/work, memorabilia…). Unfortunately this mostly gets shoved into my bedroom, probably the worst place to have a bunch of clutter.

I am def a maximalist irl.... I have always had a hard time getting rid of crap... I've gotten better but I do love my collections, photos, books, crafting, etc....

I have a few spots that ned a good cleanout... like the laundry room that has become the dumping grounds for anything that does not have a home.

Part of my clutter is my job too... I have craft supplies and toys/games/puzzles/learning resources stored in other rooms so I can swap out as needed.

And I save lots digitally... teaching resources (I also have a TPT store and Etsy), scrap stuff, photos, cricut crafts, sewing patterns...

Before my best friend moved to Texas, I spent about a month (in the space of a year) at her house helping her toss things. Turns out, I'm pretty good at helping people get rid of their junk. ...now I just need to do it for myself.

That totally makes sense. When you're having to move every few years, you're not going to want to pack a bunch of stuff.

I’m a maximalist when it comes to scrapping (although I do love some good white space and simpler patterns to balance things out). But, in our home, I’m becoming a minimalist. I have so much of my former maximalist ways to haul out but I’m really enjoying LESS. Throwing things away is super fun. We have these huge bookshelves in the middle of the house with all of my acquired book collections and art supplies from years of homeschooling and I really look forward to the day when I can get rid of them. I hate the look of just STUFF everywhere.

I'm definitely maximalist at least with scrapping! In my home I am too, but I think I'd like to be more of a minimalist.

For scrapping, whenever I've tried to do minimalist pages, I just feel like it's wasted time only having one photo and few ellies lol. There are some exceptions where a photo is just stunning and I want it to stand out, but in most cases I feel like if I'm not going to go all out, then why am I going to pay to print a whole page when I could just print the photo? That's where my brain goes anyway.

I love really messy, really full pages with tons of things to discover!

I am somewhere in the middle.

For scrapping, I love clusters and am more comfortable doing those then creating a minimalist page. I feel like a page full of stuff is more "forgiving" in a lot of ways. But I adore minimalist pages and am always drawn to them.

For my home, again, I think I am mostly in the middle, but I overdo on decorations, so there I am definitely a maximalist. I like the pretty stuff like gallery walls. But I don't over fill a room with furniture because I like space to move and I don't fill end tables or shelves with decor either. Mostly it is just the walls I decorate to the max, except at Christmas and Halloween. Then it is over the top every where.

I LOVE the Christmas threw up vibe! I always think my house looks so boring once it's all put away.

Except for Christmas, I am more of a minimalist in our home- everything has a place & I feel like I'm not the best or trendiest decorator- so the walls & tables & such are pretty plain. Both my husband & I have started thinking about downsizing and how little we actually need- so we're working on that in all aspects of our life!

Scrapbooking- however I am definitely the max. I tend to call myself a "everything but the kitchen sink" scrapper since I just want to use ALL THE PRETTY THINGS! When I do a minimalist page, I do love them, but it's SOOOOOO hard not to add more stuff! lol!

It depends on my mood for the day & what kit I'm using. Some designers' kits I prefer a more clean & simple LO, but most kits I prefer filled & busy!

I'm sort of a wannabe minimalist. I really had clutter and while I like wall decorations, they can feel too much in my house so my walls are pretty bare. I definitely need to go through some things...
