Default More Man and Boy kits

Having a husband and 3 boys...more kits for male photos would be great. I know there are some in the shop and I have some. But looking for ones with less flowers....

I know I try to use metal stars, gears and spiky "flowers" when I do boyish kits

Tracey has put out quite a few new collections over the last year geared more towards the boys and menfolk.

I'm clearly not the designer for this task but I am curious - what types of elements are preferable for guy kits instead of flowers? I know gears and stars are common but then I see people saying they are't fond of them. Or with these types of layouts is there less clustering in general?

I am not a fan of the gears and such...I honestly don't know what I would include...
I've simplified my scrapping to really pocket cards and minimal elements...sorry that's not much help.

I think flowers and guy photos have been a conversation as long as I can remember! Personally, I use flowers on male layouts, and I have some female layouts I don't use flowers. It's all in the kit and photos.

For me, round things, or stars, are a nice option. I don't care for gears - they seem too personalized. With your kits Kristin, I find that you have lots of round tags or word art that helps complete that shape in a cluster. But, I tend to be a less big cluster scrapper anyway. Often, I layer flowers under other things so they are there, but not THERE.

I also love enamel dots. Circle shape and match the kit color. They are great for clustering.

I'm in the same boat (3 boys)! While I personally love pinks/pastels and other feminine elements, I have a hard time working with products where you can't make a layout without using those pieces. My photos just don't lend themselves to those products (even if I think the products themselves are stunning). I think most designers prefer making feminine products because they are beautiful. If I had to guess, I'd say 65-70% of products in scrap stores are feminine, 25-30% are gender-agnostic and 5% masculine. I definitely don't have an issue putting flowers on my pages, but I do have a hard time scrapping pages with my boys where there aren't many neutral colors/elements included.

I find I use flowers on all my pages but the boy pages I use darker flowers and more greenery as well as dirt scatters or paint

Kit is Little Explorer by Little Butterfly Wings

Kit is Boyhood Adventures by KCB and Studio Flergs

Even with lots of photos I manage to pile on the clusters

I love to use a lot of thematic elements to fill flower spaces in clusters (but I also don't mind flowers)

I don't have many obviously gendered kits though; I tend to go interest-based when I scrap (gaming, hiking, reading, etc.)

I also obviously will never say no to stars

Boy Mom here too!

I’m not averse to using flowers in my layouts, even when I’m scrapping for memory keeping it’s at least as much for me as it is for my kids- so I use what I like. It really depends on the vibe I’m going for, but in addition to flowers, I use a good amount of arrows, stars, foliage, not opposed to gears. I love an abundance of kit-specific goodies to work with. I also like papers that coordinate well so I can throw in some extra shapes and clip them. I also like a good collection of word art, not just isolated words, but words and phrases written on a variety of shapes.

I am releasing a birthday boy kit this week. My grandbaby is just about to turn one, so I needed to create something for him. Lots of themed elements, flowers, coordinated papers, word art and other goodies!

I admit that this is a difficulty for me, creating more masculine kits. I did a collection a while ago where my team asked me to make the "sons" and "daughters" version. I admit that it was not an easy task, I decided to keep flowers, but I chose more neutral colors.

I looooove "boys" kits! Here are few pages with not "boys" collections, but I was able to use it anyway for my kid.

I know I don't usually use flowers, so not sure this helps.

I miss scrapping... SOOOOOOO much! I need to come back to it.

Your kits are definitely super versatile for boys' pages

I use flowers on my boys' pages.

I could always use more baseball & cross-country/ track kits. I also would love something with Tonka trucks, toy trains, matchbox cars, and tractors. I still have so many little boy pictures to scrap.

Some of my favorite boy kits:

Boy/men photos are basically all I have to work with so I'm of the mindset that pretty much any kit can be a boy kit! The kits here are so big that I can pretty much always find enough pieces that will work for my pages. I like stamps and messy stuff but will also use flowers here and there, too. A few examples made from kits that weren't specifically boy kits:

I love your page. A kit that you really knew how to use to your advantage

I love all the inspirations on boys' pages here! Ru, your style is so amazing!
I am with Heather on scrapping a boy's page. I am not afraid of using flowers on the pages I scrap about my husband and son. I know it is a personal preference, but I thought 'why not?'

Here is a few of my boy pages with some flowers:

I don't think we as designers can offer kits without flowers like asked her in the post.
I mean there are always people who do want/need flowers also in boy pages/kits.

here are a few samples from me

I am always looking for boy/teen/men kits... but not necessarily in dark colours or just primary colours... and I don't mind flowers just not frilly ones. I love sticker options for my layouts. And things like gears, stars, circle, stamps, ink, grungy/torn bits work nicely too. I am not an "over the top" embellisher... less is more for me but I like to add some bits and pieces to my page that enhance the theme I am scrapping.

My son is also into computers... plays games lots... so those nerdy sort of kits also appeal. Plus things about archery, construction, flying (he is training to be a pilot), science, legos, cars, trains, planes, etc.

Most of the kits that fit these I now have in my stash already so I just keep reusing what I have... but I love seeing how many designers have new boy/men kits coming soon... exciting!

Awwww thanks, girls! ♥ I do prefer to work with "stronger"/"darker" colors in kits, so, yes, they work well for boy pages.
