Couple of forum questions.... please and thanks!

Is there a way to know if I've responded in a thread already, just by looking at the New Posts/threads? I feel like there is and I'm blind.

And, is there a way to know if someone quotes me in a thread?
I don't think so... but I thought I'd ask cause I might overlook something.

There should be a way to know if you've posted in a thread, but for some reason, it doesn't look like it's working. Not sure why it isn't changing to the bubble with the heart. I'll look through settings today to see if I can figure out why that is.

And unfortunately, our forum software is from a time before tagging / @user, and all of that, so it doesn't let you know if someone has responded, or quoted you, in a thread.

I've pondered upgrading / changing our forum & gallery software but we'd probably have to start fresh and archive the old site as a cost effective / easy way of doing it. Whenever I mention it, I get mixed input on that from the community as some people like it the way it is and others wouldn't mind a change haha

I'm definitely still considering it as modernizing might be nice! Stay tuned!!

Thanks, Robin! I thought there was a way to know if I posted... but now I'm not crazy if it's not working correctly! That counts as a win, lol!

Gotcha on the Quoted posts! Yeah, that's a big undertaking! I can see both sides to the debate too!

In your settings you can subscribe to threads you comment on, so you'll get an email when someone else comments (it's easy to unsubscribe if you dont want them too.) That's what I do so I see additional comments or possible quotes.

If you have Tapatalk installed and you're logged into SSD it'll also send you an email if someone quotes you - without having to subscribe to all the threads.

I don’t ever use tapatalk but because it’s installed it still does this which I like lol. I use my web browser (even on mobile)

I haven't made any firm decisions yet, but we wouldn't close for that as we would be able to set up a new forum separate and apart from the existing site and just "turn it on" when it was ready to go!

When I'm on my desktop, I can see a tick next to all of the threads I've commented on. Does that show for you? Not sure if that's available for everyone or just staff.

Is that what you're after?

I don't have this and I'm using Edge on a Win 11 desktop computer. Not there on Chrome either.

Jacinda, I don't see those boxes/ticks on my laptop or phone.

I want ticks.

I don't see anything as well. No ticks, nothing. It's nice to see at a glance where I have commented.

I'm pretty sure the ticks mean you subscribe to that forum. There's an option to subscribe to a thread after you comment- so you'll receive notifications when anyone else comments. It's in the settings somewhere.

That's probably it. It's whatever the default is, as I have never intentionally subscribed to any threads. Didn't even know you could, till recently!

I don't have ticks, and I am subscribed to some forums. Dang! That would be a nice to see.

I did just discover that you can double-click the pink quote bubble and mark the whole forum section as read.
