Default Username Change?

So, first off, I have a specific question about how one goes about changing their forum username? Is it possible? Allowable?

But that question prompted me to ponder usernames in general...

My username here is karlimarie but pretty much only in the scrapbooking world. Karli-Marie is my actual full name, but it never caught on - it's just too cumbersome... so IRL people just call me Karli - and at this point, switching to Karli-Marie would be kind of weird to my ears. Back in the siggie forum days everyone would "call" me KM for short... even when typing

But in writing I still always go by Karli-Marie, especially in documents and such for consistency. On my FB page I even went by Karli-Marie for the longest time. But then I got married and decided to hyphenate my last name - which left me with not only FIVE names, but a double-hyphenate to boot! WHEW. My full name NEVER fits in digital systems, so I usually have to drop the hyphens, or my middle name, or part of my last name. Every time I sign documents I think: Girl! You did this to yourself!

Maybe a year or so ago I dropped the -Marie on my FB page. It threw people off for a sec, but I haven't looked back. Realistically, it's had little to no impact on my life but it kind of felt like that minute and a half when your junk counter is actually clear of clutter - like a form of moniker minimalism.

As I've tried to move in different directions with my hobbies and careers I've added different usernames to my roster, I usually try to keep Karli or KM in the mix, so like when I was digi designing I went by KM Ink Designs, then KM Ink Photography when I was in my shutterbug era, and when I'm focused on prek activities and printables I use Ms. Karli Teaches, and sometimes I use Karlicreates when I do digital drawing. I recently started up with Karliscraps for my digital scrapbook pages and timelapse videos. I'm actually shocked it took me this long to have a specific username dedicated to scrapping because of all my hobbies I think scrapbooking has stood the test of time better than others.

Anyhow - that's the short story long of how I started thinking about changing my forum name from karlimarie to karliscraps.

I know it's not exactly a pressing matter, but I'm curious... What are your thoughts?

How did you choose your username? Has there been an evolution over time, or are you still using the name you chose in like 1998?

Do you use different usernames across different platforms/forums, or does your username stay the same?

Does a rose by another name smell as sweet?

Lol I loved reading your 'back story!' I say go for it! Be whomever you want to be!

My username around all digi land and pretty much everywhere online has always been amien1. It's my first name (amie) maiden last name initial (n) and the number 1. Brilliant I know. It all started with my very first email address back in the early 90's- like highschool so 1996-97 ish? my first email address was amie n 1 at excite dot com. I used that email forever, then probably in the early 2000's I switched to a hotmail account. Same username. I guess since it was basically the beginning of time, I was able to get the number 1, but someone must have taken amien. lol

Do you use different usernames across different platforms/forums, or does your username stay the same?
Obviously I'm a creature of habit- amien1 is my life

Does a rose by another name smell as sweet?
of course! you do you babe- Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy (errr... rosy?)

First of all, I love your new name idea. You already 'answer' to it and like it so might as well let everyone here call you it too.

How did you choose your username? Has there been an evolution over time, or are you still using the name you chose in like 1998? I'm pretty sure my name was literally just a very high roommate of my friend in college loving that I am always sparkly and colorful. But she called me Brendazzle and then my friend started calling me that and it always just made me *happier* when I heard it. Like "heck yes, I *am* special!" During the brief period before I realized my dislike of business-y things outweighed my love of photography, I was Brendazzle Photography. And I just kept making it my username everywhere.

Do you use different usernames across different platforms/forums, or does your username stay the same? These days, it's pretty consistent. It helps that I'm not on a lot of platforms these days.

Does a rose by another name smell as sweet? I would think so.

To answer your question, YES you can change your forum username. You need to contact Robin personally to do that.

How did you choose your username? Has there been an evolution over time, or are you still using the name you chose in like 1998?
Despite a few variation, I always end up using nietis again and again, because it's one that people rarely pick (unlike 'sherly', which is pretty common and most forums would have that one owned by someone already...)
My username was actually given to me in high school for the computer account... it's basically the first 5 letters of my surname and the initial of my first name.

In college, I had a roommate who told me that I wasn't extraordinary, I was stasianary! (Stasia, my nickname from Anastasia). I loved it because it was so unique, and so was I! In addition, I have always been really crafty, and I realized that stasianary sounds so much like stationery, I thought it would be the perfect paper craft design name. So, then I really became Stasianary!

My first screen name/email was Aisatsana3 (Anastasia backwards, my dad's idea!)

Do you use different usernames across different platforms/forums, or does your username stay the same?
I have had so many screen names (oh, maybe like 10 AIM ones!). However, I pretty much use stasianary across the board for any kind of crafting. And then other variations of my name for like email, etc.

Does a rose by another name smell as sweet?
I like the idea of being able to change. I might have changed some of my personal items from stasianary, but alas, it is who I am!

I think this is the only forum where I use my full name, and that wasn't changed until last year. Before that, I was "gonewiththewind." So if you are at other digi spots on the web, if I have an account, that's my user name. I picked it b/c I love the novel.

When I joined Sweet Shoppe a long time ago, I used a shortened version of my main email address - it was masculine sounding because it was my husband's name and we have a shared email acct. When I came back to Sweet Shoppe after a long break, I wanted to use my own name for my forum name. Robin consolidated my two accounts into one so I could keep my purchase history once I proved I was really both accounts. Good luck!

I have used the same username since 1996 or 1997, Loriebug66. It was an easy choice for me because it is my family nickname. The 66 is the year I was born. I use it for everything, but once I became a designer here, it went to LJS Designs. However, I still have my Loriebug66 account so that I can shop for CU stuff.

Does a rose by another name smell as sweet?
Definitely, but to be honest, I like the smell of lilacs better.
