Default Summer Plans

Summer is just around the corner - so crazy! Do you have any special plans for the Summer? Trips?

We're moving back to my beloved countryside in the hill country and finally out of the city (here a year for work). I plan to take some long walks and enjoy the scenery, fresh country air and cherish the quiet!

We're going to a convention in Orlando in June. While we can't go to a theme park this trip, we're still going for two special meals (one for my mom's birthday and one for Father's Day)

My son graduates this month (ACK!). So we are starting summer with a big party. We are ending it with his present of 2 weeks touring Great Britain. In between is his last times at his happy places of performing arts camp and summer sleepaway camp. Plus we register for his new college and he gets his wisdom teeth out. Big summer for him and I just follow him around on it. lol

No big plans for summer . . . YET!

I have a back injection on Tuesday, and depending on how much relief I have, I plan to:

Travel to South Carolina to my aunt's house (my mother's sister) to see her and my uncle and my first cousins.
Travel to Alabama to visit my aunt
Travel to Georgia to visit my brother, sis-in-law, niece and nephew

I would love love love to go on a big trip this year if this injection works. I want to see Niagra Falls. Jay and I are talking about making that a reality.

If things don't go well, I plan to stay focused on my hobbies (scrapbooking, photography, painting, drawing, doodling, cross stitching, etc.) and enjoy the air conditioning.

Our summer's are usually full of travel softball tournaments and sometimes a hockey camp thrown in there somewhere. This will be the last Summer my daughter plays though- so we're soaking it all in!

May 30-June 2 TC OKC (Oklahoma City)
June 6-8 SGFSA (Spokane)
June 13-15: Father’s Day Invite (Spokane)
June 20-22: Summer Warm Up (Yakima, WA)
June 27-29: MT Rumble (Missoula MT)
July 3-8: Canada Cup (Surrey Canada)
July 11-13: D-Bats (Tri Cities, WA)
July 18-20 Post Falls River Bash (Post Falls Idaho)

Then it's lake time- we have the most gorgeous summers here in the PNW so we try to spend as much time as possible at the lake house in Coeur d'Alene in August.

Finally going on our roadtrip through Ireland (Republic and Northern Ireland) that we had postponed from last year (my father fell ill and passed away, in the end we could have gone, but it just didn't feel right...).
We are leaving at the end of this month, so it's coming close now.

For the rest of the summer I hope to spend time in our pool, go for walks and find a new job. Maybe we'll go on a weekend trip and I might even go on a midweek trip with my sister. But these are just ideas, not set plans.

The end of June I'm taking a bus tour from Ohio to South Dakota that will encompass several national parks and most of all, Mount Rushmore. A scrapping friend that lives near Rushmore plans to meet up with me for a few hours. Will be great to see her since I need to give her a big hug since she lost her husband unexpectedly last November.

Then the end of August/beginning of September, I'm taking another bus tour from Ohio to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island & New Brunswick with a stop in Maine. It is a 13 day trip and a college friend is going with me. We had a good time on the trip to Cape Cod last year so I'm sure we'll have a good time on this one.

And, lastly even though it isn't in the summer, the end of September and beginning of October I will be on a bus trip from Ohio to Vermont. I will celebrate my birthday on the last day of the trip...nothing like being on a bus all day but it beats being in the hospital like I was in 2023.

Lots of photos to scrap...but I still haven't scrapped the photos from my bus tour to Cape Cod last October! Guess I better work on that.

That sounds dreamy!!

We have a couple tentative plans including a long weekend at Myrtle Beach when school ends and a week in Atlanta. The kids have a couple one-day nature camps, and our playgroup is pretty active during the summer, so playdates will pick up.

But I expect we'll have a fair amount of relaxing days at home.

Maybe! Most of them hinge on a big change for me that would happen later this month.

If it works out, we'll be taking a family trip to St. Louis (postponed from last summer when we had to use that money to fix he roof) + my oldest and I would go on a Laura Ingalls Wilder roadtrip to celebrate their upcoming 16th birthday + I would fly out to see my cousin in Portland for a long weekend.

If it doesn't, we'll focus on little day trips here & there + our veggie and fruit garden that we're planting next weekend. My husband is excited to grow our own food & I'm excited to have the kids weed our own food.

Not sure what we are doing this summer. Our summer looks to be full of swim team, swim camp for the high school team, church camp and then water polo starts at the end of July.

No Summer plans here. My daughter comes home from her study abroad in Italy in 5 more days and I can't wait to hug her! My oldest son graduates May 27 from CTC, but he didn't want a party and is going to be working full time at the job he co-oped at this year. He is going to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in Skills USA since he won first place at the state competition in April. My husband had hip replacement surgery in March, and hopefully he will be going back to work in the next month or two because short-term disability is a joke. So, I guess I will just be spending my Summer in my garden!

Heading to California at the end of the month for my bonus granddaughter's wedding. Since the wedding venue is less than two hours from Disneyland, I'll spend a few days there before flying home.

I have a three day weekend scrapping retreat in July and that's the end of my summer plans.
