Thumbs up More info on my Health Kwest!

So, I got the package of goodies today from Genghis Grill. I'm so super excited that I just have to share with you guys!

Remember how I told you that last year they had daily blog posts and votes? Well, this year, it doesn't say anything at all about gathering votes. We're waiting on clarification, but as of right now, it sounds like the points come from completing tasks.

And let me tell ya... there are some toughies on this list!!

I've got a calendar, and for every day of the contest (60 days) there is a different challenge I have to do involving different social media outlets. Sometimes it's super simple like "check into Genghis Grill on Facebook" or "Take a picture of your bowl and post on Instagram." Those are work like 1-10 points each. Easy peasy.

THEN there are some that are a little more tricky such as "Create a bulletin board to display at your local Genghis Grill so that fans can follow your journey." That's worth 50 points.

And then we get to the hard stuff. The 100 pointers. "Make a video of yourself doing your own Genghis Grill dance in front of your location. Get your family, friends, and staff involved and post on YouTube." EEEEEEEE!! This girl does NOT dance. LOL (But hey... for $10k, I'm willing to look like a fool).

There are a couple of even bigger ones... like sign up for a 5K for 200 points.

All in all, I can earn 2285 possible points if I complete every task. The grand prize winner will be the person with the highest % of weight loss and the most social media points.

Are you guys ready to do this with me? I'm so excited and nervous. I'm SO going to need all the support I can get from my friends. I've never done anything like this before, and while I have faith in my abilities, it's REALLY overwhelming. I'm thinking about setting up a separate blog just for my journey so that I can post every day with links to whatever I did for that day's challenge. If I do that, I'll let you guys know!

Anyway, that's the latest. Thanks for sharing in the journey with me!

Libby, that sounds like so much fun! How awesome that you can lose weight like you were planning to do anyways... and as a bonus get all this support, fun memories, free food, and encouragement (and incentive) from the contest. I'm super happy for you! It sounds exciting. Can't wait to see your dance video.

Ditto what Brook said!! I think this sounds like so much fun, and you'll have the bonus of losing weight along the way! I can't wait to hear/see it all! And, you know, if you ever have to do anything that requires getting people to vote for stuff . . . you can always count on your Sweet Shoppe girls.

I have to say Libby, as the person who is NOT doing all the tasks, they sound like FUN! Haha! You can so do this though. Just do the Gangnam style dance or something. And for the bulletin board thing, you could ask SSD fans to draft up a concept/design board to give you ideas. The one you like most could win a kit of their choice or something?

Great idea, Jacinda!!!

I'm going to meet with the manager and staff of my location on Saturday, so I'm hoping to talk to him about all the challenges that require staff participation. He told me on the phone today that they are willing to do whatever I need to be successful, and I told him, "Oh we're gonna win this thing!" LOL

The official start date is Monday!!

you know we are there right along with you...and for the 5K you can totally do that and you can even rent like a jogger stroller and push Chloe.....even if you walk/run it, half the battle is getting there!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to say the same thing - dance with Chloe! That will win you some "awwww!" points for sure!

Good idea on the blog and you will SO kill that bulletin board. Do they even know who they are dealing with? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Dude, CMR (Color Me Rad) just did an opening for Wichita race!!! Its in May but it would be awesome! They are not timed so you wouldn't have to feel rushed, and kids under 8 are free. I take mine with me and they love it!!! I totally vote you sign up for it. And the above ladies have great advice about the dancing. I'm not a dancer, sorry. :/

You can do it Libby!

I have a question though, something I've been wondering since you announced this...

How does eating one meal a day there actually work since you fill your own bowl? Are you required to make it a certain weight or something?

Oh my GOSH, Britt! That looks SO fun! I sooooooooo want to do that! Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, it looks like the late registration deadline is Apr 5, and my challenge date for the points is Apr 6. I'll have to think about how I can do that. Maybe I can still sign up on Apr 5 and post my photo of me signing up on Apr 6. IDK. I'll think about it. Either way, I SO want to do that. THAT will be my goal! I'm tempted to sign up for it whether or not it counts for this contest. Cause I'd hate to risk it selling out. Do they sell out often?

Lynnette, that's a good question. They are actually promoting that you can incorporate GG into a part of your healthy lifestyle. None of their foods are really "bad" for you as they have tons and tons of veggies and lean meats. I fill my bowl to the point of having things stacked high on top of it, but because everything is raw, it cooks down a lot. Even if I did a bowl with lots of meat and a starch, it would still be a healthy option. They have a nutrition calculator on their site where you can build your own bowl. I put in a sample bowl for me, and it was under 450 calories. That will be my "big" meal of the day each day, so I won't be skimping there.

Yes, they do often fill up. You can sign up any time between now and when it fills up/April 5th. The actual race isn't till May. There's also the one OKC and DFW ones I'm doing if you feel like driving down to the OKC one for my bday.
I did two of these last year and we loved them. I highly recommend them for a great time, regardless weather it counts. you can look at active.com for more races in your area/within the time frame. :/

this sounds like a lot of fun and then i do understand your issues with the dance. the idea with cloe is great but why not get even more people there of your friends and family to have a big party? then you are in the video but the rest of the town is, too :-)
i usually do this when i am forced to sing something in front of audience. i chose "dancing queen" by abba and say before the music starts that i invite all the girls on the stage to be a dancing queen with me. and we sing and dance all together. this is huge fun.

We should get Shawna, Heather, Lindsay, and the other Wichita girls to do it, too. We could have our own little SSD group!

Cool! Well, I won't be ready by April, but I totally want to sign up for the May one. This fat girl has never run a day in her life, so this should be interesting! LOL

Yeah, my issue is that I will never run. I have bad knees and currently a painful ankle and I don't want to make them worse by running. That's why I want to do Color Rad. You can walk it.

Those are some pretty cool challenges!!

I have a team signed up for the Fresno Color Me Rad on April 7th...this 5K is actually a "fun run." You don't necessarily have to run. It's just fun to throw paint on one another and get super messy. If you want to do a 5K, this is a good first.

I'm totally excited about the thought of doing the 5k, and the color thing just sounds like a blast.

I went out to the base this morning and met with a nutritionist to make sure I have my diet plan all lined out before we start this thing. I mentioned to her that I'd love to do a 5k, and she told me about a group they have on base that does sorta a couch to 5k type of program. So, I might look into that.

I'm definitely going to do the Color Rad thing, but we've got a group going at work and I'll probably join them. So if you girls are there, we'll have to find each other and get a SSD pic.
