missing pixel on laptop monitor??

Has anyone ever had a pixel or multiple pixels on their laptop stop working? I do not know if that is even possible but on the left side of my screen there is a small grey dot. I thought it might have been something on the screen outside but after cleaning the screen it did not wipe off. What causes this?

Yep...missing pixels happen, especially on laptops. I guess I don't really know why...I just imagined it was typical wear and tear on a laptop.
