Default Naming Choices

~ Ok so my parents named me Nonja (nonya) which by the way I love ~ here is the clincher - when I was a kid there was NEVER anything that had my name on it - no pencils, no cool bike license plate.... I was recently wondering who else had my name and cold commiserate with me ~ was shocked to find this -

I so have to scrap this!!!!!!!

LOL, nice.

If you change the "j" to a "y", Nonya is actually pretty common in Malaysia. There's a kind of cooking called "Nyonya" cuisine, and it's yummy! (it can be called nonya, too) It's a word used for an older woman to show respect.

But I really like it as a first name; totally unique!

LOL, I had to laugh.

I hear you on the personalized products . . . I don't think I've ever seen anything with Mimi on it.

And I've never found a "Lindy" pencil or toothbrush either! I know your pain. I named both my kids more common names so they would never feel left out! Your name is beautiful!

Oh I always had such problems finding Katrina named stuff, and I've never met another Katrina. LOL My kids don't have very common names either. I can never find personalized stuff for them. LOL But I didn't want them to have tons of other kids with the same name in there class either.

he he he too funny!!!

I could never find anything with my name on it either. It was always Christy. All the other kids in the neighborhood had little license plates with their names on them hanging on seat of their bikes. But mine just said Oregon. sob sob

Katrina - I have known at least 4 Katrinas. I'm so surprised to hear you've never met anyone else with that name. It's a name I've always loved!!

really? you've never met another Katrina? I've known at least three over my liftime. I think its a pretty name.

As for my name, well, I could never find any "name" stuff either. Here's the thing. My name (my birth name) isn't Jennifer like most "Jennys" are. My birth name is just Jenny. So there was always a TON of Jennifer stuff and even some Jennie/Jenni stuff. But never Jenny-with-a-y stuff. So annoying.

That flickr thing was so cute!!
And I know what you mean by the personalized thing, too. It is very rare to find Leslie as well in that list, but at least Nonja wouldn't be mistaken for a guy's name, LOL....

Well I feel your pain.... try finding anything with Jaedyn on it! Ha! Its easier now to find stuff that says "Jaden" or "Jayden" but not the way mine is spelled. And nice me, I named my baby Avalynne... so I don't think she'll be getting any personalized things either .

Nope I've never met another one, but we do live in a really tiny town so that might hinder those chances LOL

LOL Your name is very beautiful though! My name is Sarah so there was EVERYTHING everywhere but well I also had 10 bestfriends growing up with the sme name. I would take a unique beautiful name over a license plate anyday lol!

I was just talking abt names yesterday at work with a guy here named Dax.

I think it's BIZARRE to have someone with the same name as you as a friend. Just call somebody up and be like, 'Hey, LeeAndra. It's LeeAndra.' MINDFREAK.

He understood what I was saying.

And nope, never had anything with a personalization on it IN MY LIFE. My poor pretend yet-to-be babies as the gurls will all get 'weird' names like mine (i.e. Amarise Belle, Eliana Clare, Gavriella Honore, & Saraiah Jolie top the list), too, so no personalization for them, either.
