Default Since we're on the topic of laundry...

How often do you wash the sheets on your bed?

And also, do you have more than one set that you rotate, or do you keep the same sheets all the time?

We have at least 2 sets per bed, more when the kids are young enough that they aren't dry all night yet. I won't incriminate myself by answering how frequently they get washed. Less than they should, more than I want to, LOL.

I like having multiple sets so that it doesn't get stretched out into an all day chore. In other words, I make 10 minutes to strip and remake the bed and be done rather than having to do the stripping, then the washing, then the remaking. I always get busy or distracted somewhere along the way; if we had 1 set per bed, we'd make it to bedtime and realize the sheets were all still sitting wet in the washer.

We tend to use the same set of sheets - wash and replace immediately. I store extra sets of sheets under the mattress to save room in the linen closet (which, ironically, stores no linens now!). I'll switch them out occasionally.

I tend to wash once a week in the summer, and every two weeks in winter?

See, I don't wash them as frequently as I should, but it IS an all-day chore. Right now, we always use the same sheets, so I strip the bed, wash, dry, and replace. But like Rachel, I get sidetracked, so it often gets to be bedtime, and I walk in and go "Oh yeah. Sheets are in the dryer." LOL

Maybe I need to invest in another set so that it's a 10 minute then and then done.

With the baby's bed, I replace hers as needed which is usually more than once a week (she's a sweaty little sleeper).

Libby - I use my kitchen timer a lot - I set it to remind myself to check the washer when it's finished because I tend to tune it out as soon as I hear it stop moving

If I'm going to hang them, I do switch out the sheets so I don't have to worry about being dry in time or a super-humid day, but if.

Well for all the other beds than mine we have several sets that we rotate them. But all sheets get washed once a week. Sometimes more often if something happens(kid puked, etc). Mine get put right back on as they are the only queen sized set we have.

We have two sets of sheets for the bed, but one is our emergency only set because it's horrible...bah. I wash and replace the same set every time unless I am sick or something. I try for once a week, but to be honest, I'm lucky to remember to do it every 2 weeks.

Each mattress has two fitted sheets and two duvet covers plus their matching pillow cases. Whatever isn't on the bed is stored in the pillow cases. I can't remember where I read to store bedsheets inside the pillow cases, but it changed my life. lol Best idea ever.

I shoot for once a week, but sometimes things happen. I take the sheets off the mattresses and covers off the duvets, and throw them in the wash, then grab out the new sets and put them on right away.

Also, every mattress has a waterproof cover. We don't have many bedwetting problems, but you just never know what will happen. Every nighttime nosebleed or puke, I'm glad we have them. Our bed is a sofa bed, so we have spilled drinks and whatever when it's in couch mode, and I'm glad I have them again! They aren't plasticy at all, so we don't notice they're there until they do their job. Love them!

I like to wash, dry & replace the same set because it's my favorite set and I love the smell of freshly cleaned linens. The ones I store in the closet tend to smell less fresh... so I just keep that set as a back-up in case I don't finish the laundry before bedtime.

LOL, I was going to say, didn't we just have this conversation? Apparently sheets are a hot topic around here lately.

For those of you who would like to read more about laundry... this blog post made me all kinds of happy. I love the ideas about how to streamline and organize the system to make it easier.

My boys' beds are ALL difficult beds to make - loft, bunk, trundle - so they don't get changed as often as they should.

And like I said in the other thread, I do it when I remember. (although I HAVE changed them all since that last thread - ha! )

I have a toddler so I feel like I was every day! Realistically though about once every 2 weeks for ours and we use the same set although we have an additional set or two in the closet.
My little guy has about 6 sets so I just rotate and wash his as needed.

I should wash them more often than I do, that's for sure! I wash my younger one's frequently, because he's often wet at night . The older one's sheets get washed less often, because she's not wet, or sweaty or smelly . I don't think I have ever washed sheets, etc, and had the same ones back on the bed that day. I'd feel like I was doing laundry all day, it's bad enough having to strip the bed and put them in to wash, lol. We have 3 sets for our bed, that get rotated. The kids have 4 or 5 sets each, that also get rotated.

Right now we have an occasional bed wetter, who also happens to nap on our bed for his naps. Sooo I wash them when he wets, or when I realize it's been awhile and our bed gets harder to make. Oh, or I wash when the 2 yo vomits, which has been far too often.

Ideally it's every other week because I'm not a fan of laundry so every week is too much for me.

Umm, whenever I look at them and say, jeez, I should wash these. Its not on schedule at all, but probably longer than I should. I will say, I shower before bed, so I go to bed clean. My son's even less often cause its a giant pain to clear all the stuffed animals and get it made back up.

I do mine every two weeks. I've always had two sets for summer and one flannel set for winter (I've always found them more expensive and I've been too cheap to invest in a second winter set). My winter ones got some horrid holes and had to be thrown out, and now one of my summer sets is starting to get all yucky and worn, so it's about time for it to go, too... that'll leave me with one set to wash/replace every time, and I'm not sure I like that plan. Might be time to go sheet shopping soon.
