I'm getting a new lappie

Sometime early spring, my dad offered me his "old" Toshiba laptop and it was going to need a little work. Well, he took it to have it looked at and then not too long after that, he went into the hospital for some very serious stuff and was in there around month. So obviously, this wasn't the first thing on his mind, or mine for that matter. But a couple or three weeks ago, might've been longer, my sense of time is aweful anymore,lol, he told me the hd was bad and he was going to look into getting a new one for it. I'm guessing that he found this one while doing that. He got it from MicroCenter (of which there are only two in Ohio and the closest is about an hour and a half away , so i pray nothing goes wrong,lol). At least he bought a three year warranty for it,lol.
I just want to be prepared for any and all contingincies
