S/O: Hot Guys vs. Funny Guys

In answering her poll re: Vince Vaughn, it made me think abt hot comedians and how important a sense of humor is in relation to general 'hotness.'

Like I would totally marry Conan O'Brien in a second & think he is totally cute, but I know he is not physically attractive or necessarily my type, at all, but he is SO funny and SO witty and SO intelligent it kinda just glazes over the fact that he's all gangly & snow white. I honestly think I could get over not being attracted to him physically because I would be so mentally & emotionally attracted to him.

Do you guys have crushes on weird/unpopular celebrities because of their brains or senses of humor? Have you had that happen to you in real life, too? Conversely, have you ever been 'unattracted' to some Abercrombie & Fitch model-guy because he was not funny at all?

As much as I *am* physically attracted to Jeff, I know that it plays just as big a role in my attraction that he's funny & he thinks I'm funny & we're able to laugh together and do silly things.

I'm pretty sure that guys do not give enough credit when it comes to having a sense of humor & us gurls are willing to let some physical things go if it comes along with a great smile & humor, but let's see what y'all say.

i totally prefer a guy that can make me laugh over one thats just pretty. DH is able to make me laugh though he's not as much of a goof as i would probably prefer, lol. though that's not the only thing i love about him. My dad is the funniest guy i know, and my brother and i both have the same sarcastic, odd sense of humor. So its sort of wierd that i didnt end up with a complete goofball,lol.

oh, i adore Craig Ferguson, that scottish guy with the talk show. i like his accent too. and David Letterman. he's such a nut with the gap in his teeth but he's so funny. and he's from Indiana, lol.

ahahaha!! meeee too samara!! i have loved that man since forever. i almost made him my hottie avie, but he didn't really fit the hottie bill.

and i'm not gonna lie...if a guy was like the most hilarious man on the planet but hideously ugly i could not date the guy. those of you who say you would are lying. i love humor (duh) just as much as the next, but they have to have both...looks and humor. unfortunately, mine is neither...LOL!!!

for me funny is far more important the how a man looks. Dont get me wrong Id have to find him attractive but he doesnt have to be perfect. A little bit of weight or thinning hair would not bother me if he was compatible personality wise. I do have a "type" that I am normally attracted to but that doesnt mean that I would not go outside of that "type". Of course none of that matters because I found my perfect guy almost 18 years ago and I am not looking for anything other then who I already have :-)

Sense of humor and intelligence (I usually like intellegent humor) are what get me. When I first met DH, I didn't see his face for a while - we were in a dark club and he was standing behind me talking to me. There was something about his voice and humor that got to me. When I actually saw him in the light, I was pleasantly surprised that he was actually good-looking, too. But maybe I thought he was more attractive because of his humor and intelligence.
I used to think Keanu Reeves was attractive - until I saw interviews of him and he did not seem too bright or funny - he is off my hottie list because of that.

i wanted to add that this sounded shallow. what i should've said is that a guy has to just be the right one for you. regardless of looks and humor. you have to be personally attracted to him. that's doesn't mean he's hot however.

hot, sexy, cute, sexual attration are all different definitions to me.

he still isn't those things...i just fell in love with his shy guy routine. most of the time, guys were like ummm...ya lizzy...your hot...we should date. dennis not so much. i suppose i wanted to 'dirty him up' a bit. ahahahahahaha!! when we did start to date and i saw how caring he was, i fell head over heels. although i did break up with him like 30 times, but he never came begging for me back. maybe that helped me love him to. hard to get, he was, in a way. it's weird cause i am seriously like the luckiest girl ever. he does what i ask, he does stuff without me asking, he's a great daddy and provider. the list goes on and on. and we do have fun together. i make him out to be a stick in the mud. he can be so fun...we are always teasing and goofing off.

If I am being totally honest I need both in my mate, which I am lucky enough to have found. I wish I could say that it was only the personality that mattered but I would have to be physically attracted to him too or it would never work. Small flaws are fine and normal but there would have to be something physically attractive about him to make it work. Lucky for me my husband has always been able to make me laugh and has a great sense of humor....actually it is weird but it works for me. The night we met he pretended to make out with a TV because he kept bumping into it. It was weird but funny and he has been making me laugh ever since but he was also physically attractive to me so we work and have been together for 10 years.
For me Johnny Depp has always been the TV/Movie star that did it for me. There is just something abouthim that always makes me smile: dirty, clean, pirate or gypsy he is my favorite.
