favorite hybrid stuff?

Well, I have a bit of spare cash laying around with Christmas money from family and all and I've really been wanting to get more into hybrid. Thinking of going to Michael's or JoAnn's tomorrow (the only local scrapbook supply stores I know of) to get some necessities for getting into hybrid.

Can I get any recommendations? Not the Cricut or anything that monstrous yet, my interest is still only in infancy at this point, so that will come later, I'll stick to a craft knife for now if it works as a substitute, but what are some good general things for a shopping list? I'm thinking ric rac, string, buttons, and ribbons of different types for sure, but...any other major needs? I wanna create some nice tangible things...maybe cards.

I'd be lost without Xyron Cheetah adhesive, brads, flowers & cutterbee scissors. I use my crop-a-dile alot too.

I love my Kokuyo adhesive. My crop-a-dile is also a must have. You will need a good paper trimmer - the Fiskars destop trimmer is a good choice. Some kind of sander, for smoothing out rough edges - I have a sanding block for large areas and I use emory boards for small areas. Also some type of liquid adhesive/sealer. I've been using Diamond Glaze and Glossy Accents. I personally don't use Mod Podge because it's too humid down here in Houston and it never really dries.

As for embellies - whatever you like! I love Prima flowers, Making Memories Paint (don't use the cheap craft store brands, they're just not as good), Tim Holtz Distressable Inks, Thickers Letter stickers.

Just go to your LSS and wander the aisles. There are so many cool embellies. Have fun!

Xyron definitely...I've been using them for years...I now have the MINI (1/2" wide), the xbox as I call it (2"), 5", and now the 9" wide!!

I love my bind-it-all (the pink one is the newer release)...

I used a friend's cropadile...to punch holes in my fabric and adhere the grommets for my Coca Cola curtains (does that make my curtains hybrid? ha ha)...it was pretty cool.

I'm not into the hybrid as heavily as these gals are...but I was a paper scrapper before this ... but they are slowly pulling pulling pulling me over to the dark side................

Great tip Penny- I need serious help with the craft knife!

I also love my xyron (out of refill at the moment) and though I was scared of it at first, I have become close with Mod Podge matte finish and foam brushes.

I have a crop-a-dile which I was hesistant to buy, but actually have used sevreal times (even to punch holes in my husband's belt when he lost weight)!

I stock up regularly on chipboard albums (mostly here at SSD but sometimes I find them at a LSS). Looking for more ideas in this very thread!

I can fully agree with what everyone has said so far! I LOVE buttons and embroidery floss to tie them with (I have something against untied buttons!) and glue dots to attach them. I use my Crop-A-Dile quite often and if I was to buy one now I might get the newer one that punches further in than the original one. I find the xyron runners hard to use, so I use the larger machine or modge podge for adhering paper to chip or other things.

And for Christmas I got the Bind It All v2.0 and some spiral bindings, chipboard covers, etc. I'd love to make my own albums from start to finish - especially small quick ones, so I'm hoping that the ability to bind them myself will encourage me to make some. I seem to have ideas for albums, but usually have trouble in figuring out how to bind them together.

Definitely a good paper trimmer, the cutterbee scissors are FAB, and a crop-o-dile or big bite.

I love my tombow glues and tape runner, the xyron cheetah, glue dots of various sizes and thicknesses, fiskars fingertip craft knife, glass cutting mat, inks and distressing inks, and my basic grey sanding tool kit.

I have a large (and ever growing) collection of ribbons, buttons, brads, and Prima flowers as well.

Every time I get out my hybrid stuff, I pull out my hot glue gun to attach flowers and bling and such. I agree about the cutting board though I call it a self healing cutting matte, not sure if its the same thing? I really need to get a better adhesive thingy, I just use photo glue now. I also want to get a crop-o-dial. I get lost when I look at the traditional scrapping stuff now. lol

I have both a self-healing cutting mat and a glass one. The glass one is way better in my opinion - the knife just glides across it!

I use double sided tape for adhering printed papers to cardstock to make my cards and glossy accents for sticking all the 'things' like buttons, bling and flowers. My most favourite buttons are FooFaLa as they come in mixed bags of gorgeous colours in different shapes and sizes and I like to wander around the haberdashery department picking pretty coloured embroidery threads for tying through them - it's cheap so you can a whole handful of gorgeous colours

OMG! {insert headslap here!} It never occurred to me to get out all my embroidery floss from my years of cross-stitching. I have buttons in all shapes/sizes/colors from years of sewing...and my grandmother's penchant for collecting them Now a way to use up other crafting supplies. Thanks!
