I'm in love with mine but I came from a little ol' flip phone. I am not familiar with the Treo it I'm assuming you use it to sync to desktop app for scheduling and contacts? With iPhone if you want to sync to Outlook you need to get Mobile Me or figure out some kind of workaround.

Personally I just use google calendar and got an app that syncs to it.

iPhone doesn't support MMS.

What I love is how fun and easy it is to use. Like being able to talk to someone on phone and surf web. Visual voicemail is nice. App store has a ton of apps, some are crap to be sure but a lot of cool ones too. Pandora is one of my faves.

I could go on and would if my thumbs weren't giving out on me.

Oh you do have 30 days to try it. Restocking fee if you return.

I love mine. Posting from it no while I wait for my kid to get out of school. I like that you can customize it with apps. I also like the data plan we got. Unlimited data and I think 500 minutes with nights and weekends free. The only complaint I have is the here is not a voice dialer but I found an app that does it. And I haven't figured out spell check yet.

We got the iPhone because we needed another iPod and the coverage in the country is better than verizon. I was able to get faster speed on the AT&T network at my inlaws than their dialup- which was all that was available. I also like that it is actual Internet access and not the lame network that my husband has with no photos.

I'd buy a cheapo prepaid at&t phone to check the coverage everywhere you want to go. We tried switching to iphones a few months back, bought them literally less than 3 city blocks from our house, got home and we were in a dead zone with zero coverage. We had to take back the phones and switch back to verizon and it was a royal pain. Happens quite a bit actually, so it's a good idea to test the network around you with the prepaid phone trick.

Good luck!

Yes, that's a good tip from Robin. Make sure AT&T has good coverage in your area. I know there is a site where customers post what coverage is *really* like in the areas where they live but I don't have it bookmarked any longer. It was great when I was switching to a new carrier a couple of years ago. Sometimes the map claims you have great coverage but you really don't.

Anyways, about the iPhone....I also LOVE mine. I've had it for a year now and still find new things to love about it. Right now, I'm loving searching for fun apps to download. They didn't have apps when I first got it and now there are thousands out there! I also use mine more for the web/email then to actually talk. lol

Other things I love about it:
- having my music, phone, email, web, contacts, photos, videos in one device
- keeping my 4 year old occupied during my many OB visits by letting her watch TV shows on it, playing games, etc.
- very user friendly
- visual voicemail
- texting is simpler then it was on my old flip phone
- again, APPS!
-I'm on a Mac, so I love that it syncs up with iCal and Contacts on my Mac

I've used AT&T for the past 10 years, so I knew the coverage was fine. DH got me my iPhone for Christmas, and I love it!! I love being able to check my email and surf the net from anywhere and I love having the calendar and my ipod right at my fingertips...I love it all!

If you're unsure of the network, don't port your old number over yet. I think they can give you a temporary number. Or the prepaid phone sounds like a good idea too but I don't know how well you will be able to test your the 3G network in your area. And 3G is definitely faster than Edge.

Definitely take the time to play around with one first. I personally love the touch screen but not everyone will. Love the big screen and accelerometer (sp?) that lets you view portrait or landscape.

Oh I love the GPS too. There's no voice navigation though. Maybe one day there will be . . .

I also love that the iPhone is wi-fi enabled. And AT&T iphone users can use wi-fi for free at At&T hotspots (like Starbucks and McDs).

I know some people jailbreak (hack) their phones and add 3rd party apps but I am way too wimpy for that.

It really is a fun, fab phone. Not perfect but very good.

Data is different from voice minutes. And data is required for iPhones.

to be honest, I use my own wi-fi more than the 3G. I try not to be bitter about the money I pay to AT&T for something I don't use that much . I should get out more!

Geez all this talk of iPhones is making me think I need one lol! We already have AT&T and have been happy with their service all the years we've had it so we might have to look into them the next time we're eligible to upgrade. The only thing holding me back is the fact that for what we'll likely have to pay for the iPhones would probably be equal to me getting an external flash or a fancy new lens for my XTi decisions, decisions...

I would rather be buying a new lens...personally..but you are all making the phone sound pretty cool.

Next purchase for me will be a new lense though Shawana!

The first couple of years we had AT&T we always had a ton of rollover minutes, at one point we had like 3,000 I think! We just didn't use our phones much except to call each other which was free with M2M. Now that Rob talks on his phone more than a teenage girl we rarely have any minutes left to rollover!

The data plan is seperate then your minutes. So, it won't affect your minutes at all. That's why I have so many rollover minutes every month.
