Default just curious

What kind of dishes do you use? I bought some Corelle dishes because my kids seem to drop and break plates so often and while these are still breakable they do not break as easily as other. I have this set:

I absolutely love them. Have had them for several years while the glasses are long gone the plates/bowls are still holding up really well. I think we might need to replace like two or three plates total.

So which ones do you use?

My sister has those! I have the Corelle Callway (green ivy) collection. We got most of the pieces for our wedding almost 9 years ago. I don't think they make it anymore as it's not listed on their site.

Mikasa French Countryside

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc....ognc?ID=42231

I have had it for over 10 years and you would never know it. Billy has broken a few pieces but the stuff is really durable. And it can go in the oven and microwave. The boys don't use it that much. I have some cute melamine plates from Target and Pottery Barn for them.

I also have some Lenox Maywood china but that has been only used twice. LOL

I love Corelle too, but I get bored with dishes so don't spend much on them...my latest are these from Wal-Mart....into the square thing and LOVE the bowls that go with them.

While I do love Corelle, I am too wishy washy to commit to a pattern. This is why I have my entire house decorated in black and white Because I can change my mind as often as I'd like, just add a splash of red at Christmastime, a splash of yellow in the summer, etc.

So what does a girl like that do? She buys glass tableware

My bowls, plates, mugs...all clear glass I don't remember the brand but it has surely made me happy. And as often as I change the look of my kitchen or dining room, they always look fantastic.

My sister had a set really similar to these. Hers were all black though.

Another Corelle user here...though I just got my first set in December. These go SO well with the colors in my kitchen...or they will once I'm fully finished decorating, lol:

My kitchen is like a darkish butter yellow and my dining room (which you can see from everywhere in the kitchen) is a burnt orange.

We have Martha Stewart "corelle-like' plates that are all white with ridges around the rim, then regular Corelle white bowls and lunch plates to match.

Currently using a mixture of crappy stuff.
Within the next few months, we'll be the proud owners of Pottery Barn's "Great White" collection, with a mixture of these (from Bed Bath and Beyond) thrown in to satisfy my need for color.

And these glasses. I heart these.

I have some Matha Stewart ones I bought years ago at Kmart that we use the most. The are break resistant.

We just bought some "nice" dishes, but don't use them much because they're so heavy and we don't have a lot of storage, so I'm afraid I'll drop them trying to get them out of the cabinet.

We have the Corelle Rosemarie, my MIL bought us two sets the Christmas after we got engaged. It probably isn't the pattern I would have chose for myself but it has served us very well over the last 8+ years!

I also have two of these pretty pink damask plates that I found on clearance @ Target, I thought they would be cute for appetizers/snacks! I wish they had more of it, but since it was clearance there wasn't much left!

If I were going to pick something new for myself it would probably be one of these -

Ooh I'm really liking those too! I'm leaning towards something red cause the top 1' or so of the walls (above the wallpaper border) in our kitchen & dining room is just about that color of red!

Us too! But we've had ours for 20 years -- most of it still looks like new. Maybe 1 or 2 chipped pieces in our whole collection.

I am having a hard time finding mine online. My mom ordered them and they are Staffordshire Engravings the pattern of Wild Rose. They looks really fancy, but they aren't and they are this pretty pink'ish red colors..with a rose garden...kinda look like toile on plates, lmao! I could put toile everywhere! lmao

those are really pretty Paula!! I love blue and green and kinda simple sweet patterns which is why I chose the ones I did. Before those we had plain stoneware type dishes that had just a dark blue ring around the outside.

Sorry ladies, I should've known better and linked the first time around! LOL!
Here's the link for the whole red collection (I added some salad plates and mugs to the registry after looking at them again ):
Misto Red Dinnerware
Libbey Impressions Glassware

And this is the collection at Pottery Barn. I big puffy heart classic white pieces.
Great White (I registered for the traditional round set, I like the contrast of the white circles with the red squares)

I've got multiple sets of Corelle's Golden Butterfly. Seriously. It's the stuff DH and I grew up using. Our mothers and my bil's mil were so kind as to gift them to us when we first moved in together. Yeah. We've been looking at getting some new, but it hasn't been a priority. We're looking at something simple, black and white, maybe square. We'll find something that suits us, eventually.

Yet another Corelle family here. It took me forever to decide on a pattern, but I went with this one:

Kinda wish I had gone for something a little more colorful, though. They're great for everyday use and I have my Grandma's set of china for special occasions (yeah cuz we host dinner parties ALLL the time).

This, however, is what I want to have.

This is what we have...

I grew up with Corel and we have this entire set, but lots of mis-matched pieces that I got when my grandmother died...she picked it up here and there and it means so much to me, I use it more than the set, it just is special eating off stuff she picked out...even though it's like a huge hodge podge.

Well mine don't seem to exist on the Corelle website , but they look like this:

I'd like to get some plain white dishes that are nicer and less cutesy but I haven't found anything I really love just yet.

I have a cute set I got at Target recently - square plastic white with green & brown trim, the matching bowls are square too. They are a bit bigger than we usually use but nice. We have some really nice ones from World Market, square ceramic, green with a bamboo plant etched into it. They are smaller than normal.

I have some beautiful china I inherited from both my grandmothers but it can't go in the dishwasher and I am terrified of dropping a wet plate in my porceline sink and shattering it, so we never use them

My aunt gave me that set of Corelle in the first post for my high school graduation! LOL. The cups broke a long time ago, but we still have the plates and bowls (9 years later). They certainly are durable!

We just have a set of plain white that we use most of the time. I love them because they'll match everything and I can change up the tablecloth, etc. for color.
