Default Question about using kits for siggies and blogs

You know the cute little siggies that lots of people have, with their name, made from a kit - is it ok to use kits from the Shoppe to do this? (just for use here, or on maybe DST, etc)

Also, is it ok to use the kits to customize a blog? Or would you need to contact the designer of the specific kit?

Thanks ladies

I'd check the designers TOU for the kit you want to use to be sure. Most designers will allow use for personal blogs (but not a blog for a business).

I'm just waiting for one of these siggie gals to make me a cute one! My name is too long and every time I try, it looks silly (hint, hint...)

I would check the TOU for the kit, and also contact the designer. It varies from designer to designer, but some do not allow you to use their product on a blog LO.

The siggies I think everyone is ok with that. As long as you're not "selling"/making siggies for people in exchange for $$.

Yeah, and I wouldn't use one on DST. I got hand slapped when I had one on, even though I took off my blinkies, and it was smaller than if I had 4 rows of 3 blinkies. But thems the rules!

actually I think you can do this...the only reason is I saw some of La's stuff being used for siggies at my baby board and I asked her about it and she told me that all of SSD products areSs4O/S4H friend. As long as they are individual "items" not mass production of the same siggy/card/product ect.

I'm sure one of the higher ups will be along to give the "official" answer soon!!!

I think it falls under S4O/H as long as each one is individual/unique and sent as a flattened image

Oh you're right Elizabeth, I forgot they changed the store's TOU to that. Yea, as long as it's on an individual basis, and the files are flattened I think it's ok.

Siggies and blogs are still up to each individual designer when it comes to creating them for others. But siggies, if you're making one for yourself, falls under personal use. Blogs is up to the designer. I'd email or PM to make sure!

Yeah what Bree said. Definitely contact the designer.

Our storewide TOU states that even for s4h, each item you sell must be completely custom (not just changing out the name or photos). It's my understanding that people typically use the same basic design over and over for siggies, no? (I'll admit I really know nothing about siggies).

But also, some of the designers don't allow their products to be used commercially online (etsy, blogs, etc). So, I'd definitely just contact the individual designer and clarify where she stands. We all get these questions all the time, so it just takes a moment for us to respond.

Thanks ladies! If I want to go ahead with customizing my blog, I will contact the designer for permission to use the kit.

I'm a little confused about the siggies though - I would only want to make one for myself to uses here, so I'm unclear on whether that would be ok? Although I've never tried to make one anyway, so it could turn out awful!!

And thanks for the tip about DST Jamie, I'll be too scared to put anything in my siggie there so

ooooooooooooh I totally misunderstood! yes, I think we all agree that for personal use, it's completely allowed. I thought you were asking about designing blogs and siggies for other people.

So sorry!!

Thanks Libby. Sorry, my fault for not being clear on it. Unfortunately there aren't enough hours in the day for me to consider doing anything like that for others

Thanks again
