Default Can we talk a little about CLOTHING for family pictures?

Alrighty... it's time I started thinking about what we're going to wear in our family holiday photos and start shopping around! I've booked the photographer for October. Last year we wore brown sweaters over white collared shirts with jeans. I'd kinda like to maybe add a pop of fun color this year. Would you mind sharing what your family has worn or suggest some fun ideas you've seen people do? Again, I'd kinda like to do something non-traditional and colorful.

BTW, how CUTE would my DD look in something like this?! hehe

We're doing color pop this year, and doing something more funky and fun. We did elegant black and white/sepia/dress up pics for the past 4 years, so I want to mix it up some!

I am just going to do brighter colored clothes, with some hot pink for the girls, perhaps a brighter blue for Benjamin. I have some great pics we took of them in the snow back in MAY (yes, May) and I may use those, because you can see the snow falling in them. The kids haven't changed that much since then, kwim?

That hate is beautiful. I love like browns as the main color with pops of pink and blue or just blue. I think that would be really pretty. We are just going to use a picture of us from vacation this year.

I just photographed a family of eleven. They wore muted & bright pastels and it looked really nice.

My most favorite was when my family wore fallish colors- orange, green, brown, and yellow. It looked SO nice!

I have nothing to offer, but I can't wait to see what you end up doing.

I'm drooling over that hat Megan... ah, to have a little girl! LOL!

Anyway, I don't have as many choices with all boys, but I'm always a fan of cream and red, also pink and red. I see a lot of holiday photos with work and to be honest, my favorites are always the ones that are the simplest, not to say dull, but the ones that go with one consistent color and really let the people be the true focus of the photo.

Just my .o2, for what it's worth!

Let's see we've done the
brown/white/baby blue
white shirts with denim
black/red/gray
navy/knaki
navy/red/yellow
and all in Florida Gators shirts.

This year I think we are going to go for more color too, but not sure what yet.

I absolutely LOVED the red/brown combination I did last summer:

I was especially proud because I got all three of those outfits at Once Upon A Child and only spent like $40!

we normally do red on the kids and black on us....

*I can't believe how horrible I looked!*

We use these as our Christmas cards every year.
I'd really like to do a brown/turquoise combo this year...

I usually agree with this... but since we're only a family of three, I think we might be able to pull it off.

If I got that hat for my DD, she'd probably wear a cream or brown shirt or something, so it wouldn't bee too crazy. I'd love to wear a colored sweater or a brown sweater over a colored shirt. DH can be neutral. I dunno!! I can't decide! lol

I actually made a hat almost exactly like that one for my daughter. Hers is black with a turquiose colored flower. Do you know how to crochet? The hats and flowers are relatively easy to make and I made the flower seperately so she can pin it to the hat and change the color of the flower if she wanted to

I always coordinate our clothes with which ever digi kit I'm going to use to create our family Christmas cards.
