how in the heck do you nurse in the summer without sweating both you and the baby to death!?!?!

C is the first of my kids that I have nursed this long (6.5 months ) and we are still nursing on demand and probably nurse 8 to 10 times a day but since it has warmed up we both get so hot and sticky!!! I can't imagine what's it's gonna be like in July with 95 degree heat and 100% humidity!!!!

Wish I could say the same about here!! . DS was born in late July and the heat was pretty unbearable. We mostly dressed in as little as possible and tried to keep the house as cool as we could. It helped a little but it was still bad . Last summer when it was hot he was almost 1 so it wasn't as much of an issue for us during the day. Not much help, am I? Sorry

My kiddo was born in September so by the time it got hot again he was only nursing occasionally and for shorter periods, so I don't remember it being an issue. I never even thought about that. I bet it would be an issue. We went 14 months though. Congrats to you for making it this long already!

we keep the house cool. drink lots of really cold water very frequently. dress lightly. and remember it's just for a season.

I nursed mine in the summer (and we have HOT summers) I just never covered with a blanket/cover-up. It was too hot for that. Loose fitting clothes helped a TON. And keeping the A/C on and/or sitting close to a vent.

well we are screwed...you all said "keep the house cool".......our house has no central air We have a window unit for his bedroom....looks like I maybe spending a lot of time in their with the kids during the day

I can totally sympathize. My 9 month old is still nursing (and wanting to even after 2 jars of baby food!) The side of her head is always sweaty after! Poor baby!!! She's pretty much been wearing only onesies, which helps.

so, I guess we keep our house cool enough, but with one of my babies, I nursed her right in front of a fan. I highly recommend it! It felt great and it was a nice cool off time for both of us! good luck!

I am in the same boat as you with a 5 month old and no air in Los Angeles. I will probably be spending a lot of time in my 3 year olds room, who has a window air conditioner. Yikes...

I breastfed my second one for 16 months and I don't remember being hot and sticky at all. Maybe I blocked it out, since I hate heat. Then again, I only fed her at home, so it was always cool.

I don't remember getting too terribly sticky with my son. We nursed to 20 months and he was born in late July so, we did a full summer. But, I tended to be either home, or the mall, or babies r us, both of which have nursing rooms that were kept nice and cool.

I, personally, had to cover up in public so, I tried to be in enclosed areas where I didn't need to worry about it! LOL

He's a total boobie boy so I'm gonna *HAVE* to figure it out Thankfully I'm not a shy girl so there is no need for me to cover in public and all my kiddos know what boobies are and what they are for so I maybe spending the whole summer in my house shirtless Man my hubby will like that

haha. Ive been walking around the house with "the girls" out for the past 9 months since my son was born. Im seriously shocking. Sometimes my hubby will actually say to me "uh, did u forget something?" lol. I think i still have baby brain. I quite often go out to the shops or to a friends house with my nursing bra undone under my shirt as well. Its really supportive,even undone so its easy to do! feels fine, doesnt look so hot tho!

Good luck with the heat issue. Weve just gone through summer and are heading into cooler weather, tho my lil man is still a complete sweat box. Id definately get a fan or something if i were u. I wrap him loosely in a muslin wrap as well, so our skin isnt touching. That helps a bit. I suppose you could always express and bottle feed on extremely hot days, if it was really bad.
