Default What was your first LO? Wanna share?

A post by ariesfl326 made me think about my first LO and about how I started scrapbooking.

The thing is, I know a girl who was kind of keen on digi-scraping (it's the webmaster of enya.sk) and she also created her own kits. I was curious about what scrapbooking was and how LOs were done, so I downloaded a freebie from her blog just to see how it worked in PS. That made me buy my first couple of kits at the site where she was selling at that time.

My first LO was done in July 2008 and it was actually a CD cover - I never planned to do real scrapbooking, you know, not having kids and all, but I got hooked somehow (it was a long process) and there I am, a living proof of "never say never", as it often happens to me!

So, how did you start digi-scrapping? What was your first LO and when did you do it? Don't hesitate to share if you feel like it.

This is mine (it wasn't done with SSD products - I only discovered SSD about 6 months later):

I'll share mine again...I was a traditional scrapper for years. Now I think I need to get rid of all that and just go digi. LOL

I can see why you'd like to want that! I started out digi and then went for hybrid (originally saying I'd never do anything hybrid - again, a case of "never say never") and there's a LOT of mess from paper! If I had kids I think I couldn't afford a mess like that, let alone having all those sharp object lying around. :-)

BTW you've done really well for a first time!

Anyone who's embarrassed just tell me what your first one was about, when was it done and what made you start digi-scrapping. I don't want anyone to be embarrassed!

Just in case, this was the first thing I did in PS. It was, wait... in summer 2003. And only NOW I've realised that I was already thinking in terms of scrapping, I just didn't know it, because I never knew what scrapbooking was until five years later.

BTW I often scrap the friend in this pic and her kids (she has two girls). This is the older one when she was a baby (she's just finished her first year of school):

I'll play... here is my first... at least I think it's my first, I don't remember. LOL! But it's the first that I did using Photoshop elements and a template... I remember using some really bad language... totally not lady like... because I couldn't understand how to clip to a mask. LOL! Then when I was loading it to the gallery, I didn't know how to get the res down so it wasn't all fuzzy. *sigh* I really liked that kit by Misty (retired now, I believe)... I should see if I still have it and do another layout.

You're so right, what a cute kit! I can understand all about the bad language - when I first started using PS, I kept staring at it in a "and now what?" way. For quite some time... :-)

I just celebrated (well in May) my one year anniversary as a digi scrapper! On Mother's Day, 2009 I broke my foot, and spent 2 weeks with my feet in the air, so to prevent going through scrappy withdrawals, I turned to digital.

here is my first attempt. I didn't have PSE, and actually used MS Publisher to create this. I think I used a sketch as my guide, but I don't remember. I do know that I created this for a challenge on another board, that has since closed down.

Then I started asking others questions about shadows, and such, and so started my journey....

Thanks for sharing the LO and the story! I love hearing stories like that. I like how seemingly unrelated things are related after all (broken leg and digi-scrapping in your case). :-)

I don't even have most of my old layouts around anymore, I have redone a lot of them because of how bad they were.

I don't even think I still have my first layout.... I actually followed an article I read in a magazine on how to digi scrapbook in Microsoft Word. It was quite interesting. The layout to me looked horrid compared with my paper scrappin. So I figured digi wasn't for me. But then I tried again a few months later using photoshop elements with inspiration from a friend and then I was hooked!!!

Won't ever give up my paper but I won't give up digi either! I do both now!

I don't know if it was my first but it was one of the first. It's the oldest I have on my hard drive, anyway.

It took me a good year- year and a half to fully transition from traditional to digital. I was one of the "I will never go digital!" people. Thank GOODNESS I have!!

ETA: I think those polka dots are supposed to be circles, not ovals. I must have streeeetched the paper to make it all the way across. LOL

Me too! This is the first one I did. I just did a scrap lift (literally copied it exactly) just to try to figure out PSE. For like 6 months I'd open the program, stare at the screen for about 5 minutes, scratch my head, and close it! As you can see, at this point, I had NO idea what a drop shadow was!! But, I was so proud that I got something on the page!!

My first ever "LO" was a birthday card I made of my youngest DD. I didn't even know I was "digi scrapping", had never even heard of digi scrapping!!! The program I used saved them as weird files (can't even remember the type of file) but after I printed it I had to scan it back in to share it "online". This was in February of 2005, here it is in all it's glory!!!

Then I made a few more things like some collages and a calendar for my mom. Then in October of that year I wanted to make my son's 1st birthday card and I got online and searched digital card or something like that and one of the first sites that popped up was a digital scrapbooking site. I have that card somewhere on a DVD but not anywhere on my computer so I can't share that but after I made that card I did dabble a bit with mostly QP, but I never posted any of those because we were moving out of state at that time and but after we were shettled and got the holidays out of the way I dove right in and haven't looked back!!!

I can however post the very first LO I ever posted online!!! Here that is (not from SSD) from Jan 26, 2006:

Here is my very first SSD posted LO from Nov 30, 2007 (when I first strated creating for La ):

well I am a paper scrapper for the most part and my first LO was circa 2006 I think. I don't even know where that album is anymore LOL it was BAD, very bad. This is the first digi layout I did. I started doing digi because I was making blinkies for scrapgal contests. This was the first one I did. I think this was last fall.

I love seeing people's first LOs. Here's my embarrassing first attempt, made way back in March 2004. There weren't a lot of digi stores back then, and my dial up connection was so slow that I just made everything on this one from textures built into my program (and a scanned rivet).

As some of you know, Adriana was the person who got me into digital scrapbooking.

I was doing various photo collages before, e.g. like this one:

and she used to say... "You're scrapping and you even don't know about it!"

She told me that SSD is da best and the first two kits I bought here were "Be Neutral" by Eva and "Fall Frolic" by lliella... it was in August 2009 and there was a FWP - I got some add-ons.

The first serious scrapbook LO I created was with Penny's add-on "100% recycled", I did in Corel Photo Paint and it was this one:

This was my very first Digital Layout - uploaded in July 2005. I'd played around with paper before and liked using the fonts online. Also loved checking out the online galleries which is how I found out about digital. I remember being very nervous about uploading. I still adore the pic of my youngest DD who was already 6 at the time. I had to scan all my photos as I didnt have a digital camera til around 2007.
