We are down to 20 days until our WDW trip!
![]() Has anyone ordered the photo pass CD's? Are the pics large enough for 12x12in 300 dpi scrapping? What about the photographer's skills/quality? Opinions appreciated!

We always pre-order the CD (saves some $$). The pics you get on the CD are high res, so I've never had trouble printing them.
As for the photographers' skills...your results will vary. I've got some awesome pics and some pretty awful ones. I try to ask them to get a shot with my camera as well as theirs just to be on the safe side. They don't mind doing this btw. And don't be afraid to ask for what you want. For example, if you have a certain pose in mind, just tell them. As long as you go into it realizing these people aren't professional photographers, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Of course, I am only speaking based on my own experiences and those of my family. Good luck! We leave in 76 days! ![]()

Hi! We made a trip to WDW in May 2009 ... we bought the photo pass and I had a GREAT time scrapping those photos ... still not done yet. lol
Here are my layouts ... if the search will show up (search: Sharon Kay, disney, member galleries) ... most are 12x12" ... I made 12x12" calendar pages, scrapbook pages, and even my laptop skin ... https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...earchid=114090 Ok just so you know: It will take hours and hours and hours and days and hours ... did I mention days in there? to add all the different borders to each and every one of those photos ... you can also save the photos in different sizes. Pay attention to what size you save the photo as when you edit it (I saved them in multiple sizes, keeping the original unedited photos and saving an additional image when adding borders). You will be amazed at how FREAKING SLOW Disney's Photo Pass website is (and have been told it has been that way for years) ... my sister went earlier this year and asked me to edit her photos and the website is still as slow as it was a year ago. My kids are teenagers and didn't know if we would ever get back there again so I splurged and bought the Photo Pass ... I am so glad I did. I loved the photos they took on Mother's Day at Magic Kingdom. ...one nice thing is the PhotoPass gets your entire family in front of the camera at once. lol Something I didn't do but wish I had was have the photographer take one pic with the family ... then one with each of the boys separately. FYI (unless it has changed) the only ride that is available on the PhotoPass is at Epcot called Test Track ... you scan your photopass card under the "screen" when you unboard the ride. ...and it has it's own frame you can add to those pics when you get online to edit them. FYI ... I would advise if you can check your photopass photographs each night or the next morning before you go to the next park. Reason: if a special effect (i.e. Tinkerbell in your hands or Stitch is not coming out of the street) is missing, you can walk into the next park the next day and go into the Kodak place and they will call for you and ask the special effects to get added (this is faster than a long wait time on hold when you get home). I would also recommend buying a lanyard ... there is a special photopass plastic holder that you can buy to attach to the lanyard ... that was soooooooooo handy ... because you want to keep your photopass out and ready to hand the photographer rather than digging in your purse every time. I actually bought one of the plastic photopass holders and attached it to MY camera strap. Also the photopass photographers will take a picture with your camera as well ... and I always had them take one on my camera. ...but you won't get the special effects on your photos. Grab the brass ring ... I love my photos! ...and looking at my gallery I realize I have a ton more photopass photos I need to be scrapping!

I saw my sil's photopass CD. What gorgeous photos, and they are very high resolution!
and I'm going to add here...last time I was at Disneyland, I saw a family there and they were on their last day. They obviously didn't get the photo pass, and were trying to take some shots because they had accidentally erased some on their camera. The mom was so upset...I told them to all get together and I took some family shots of them. They were so happy. I just wish there had been something like that when my boys were small. I think it is well worth the money, whether you bring your own camera or not. Last edited by 4noisyboys; 10-02-2010 at 09:20 PM. |

I added all the cute mats and saved pictures at different sizes for my sister's family trip this year ... I was surprised at some of the pictures they got that I didn't even know existed.
Do some homework and find all the spots where the photographers might be and all the COOL special effects they can do ... I THOUGHT I had found them all but missed quite a few. I really wanted the haunted house at MK but there wasn't a photographer there that morning (they had said they were only there in the mornings) ... I'm sure someone can lead you to this information ... I really can't remember where I found it...one of the boards or something started me on the search.

I would recommend the PhotoPass CD to everyone (unless you were going to spend ALL of your time on rides and avoid the photographers). I also preordered the CD to save some money. My understanding is that your 30 day countdown (or whatever it is) starts the first day you put your number in the system so if you decide to do that during your trip you will have less time to order once you get home.
I also recommend studying this site ahead of time. http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disneysphotopass/ Especially study the "magic shots". These were really helpful to me when the photographer was going to take the Magic Shot where Stitch was coming up through the pavement. Since I had seen an example on this site I could even explain to my father on how to act to get the best photo. The quality of the photographs can really vary. So, I asked to have pics taken in front of Cinderella's castle just about every time we passed it because I knew I wanted to have a good one. That being said, I was very pleased with what we got. Sometimes the photographers would even take multiples of characters talking to you, hugging, etc. before the "posed" photo. Have fun! ETA: the CD is also worth it because everyone(me) can be in the photo instead of having someone behind the camera. That was worth it in iteself. |

Janny, I am completely overwhelmed!!! I was just on the DisBoards and looking at the MNSSHP questions and people are like, planning their routes for all the different things at the party. Huh???? I just thought we walk around and see things. I didn't know we needed to devise a route!!!

I really wish John and I had done this when just the two of us went a little while ago. We got some good shots of us seperately, but it was hard to get them of us both together... especially since he is a good 8ish inches taller than me. We plan to do get this though when we take the kids back in a few years.
