I worked on death row once. It was unnerving, depressing, and dangerous.

Though, I don't know if it was my worst job. I worked at a daycare once. Toddlers en masse are much scarier.

You know what? I never worked outside the house. I babysat for alot of different people. One little girl was really mean to my daughter so I had to stop watching her. Another boy who was almost 5 still was not potty trained and his mom asked me to try to potty train him. That was not fun. Other then that it was not really hard work. I played with them, fed them, took them to the park, did school type work...

title 1 tutor at an elementary school. I struggled the entire time with getting trained properly, getting students to attend, etc and it was just not a fun job.

I worked at an insurance agent's office back in 2002. The job wasn't bad but the two girls that were in the office with me were mean to me. I quit after about a month and a half. I don't know why they were mean to me either. Ugh.

I know, right? I worked at a supermax prison, right in the pod with 96 death row inmates. I typed psychological evaluations from dictation and did endless amounts of appeal, etc, paperwork. I was a trained correctional officer, but did clerical work. So my title was correctional clerical officer

Nathan was a baby at the time and I missed him, and hated coming home (1 hour commute) exhausted and depressed. So I worked there just under a year. I met a lot of interesting people, and learned a lot of street smarts LOL.

The worst job I had wasn't because I disliked the job. It was because it was the smelliest, gross, most disgusting job I ever had. And I worked as the weekend kennel cleaner for my dad before this job!

In college I worked for the state vet lab. I was in receiving and necropsy. You would not believe the things that came in our mailroom and necropsy lab. Even worse than decaying animal body parts was when the vet school across the street had their hazardous waste burning days.

I learned a lot and the job was never dull. I think it did a great job of preparing me for parenthood.

McDonalds. I routinely was harassed by my manager (sexual advances), and on multiple occasions was forced to lift things outside my doctor's regulations (I can't lift more than 15 pounds). Not only that, but I got multiple arm burns from the fry thing, AND several times I was made to work 15 hour shifts with no breaks (even to pee!). I complained to the higher ups, got zero response, worked my way up quite a bit, but then just decided to cut my losses, since no one was helping things. I got a new job and put in my notice, then said "by the way, I'm requesting my final two weeks, I'll be on vacation. See ya."

While in college, I worked the 4:00 am shift cleaning the athletics building. It was especially hard after basketball games.

It wasn't technically a job but I went on an interview/tryout for this marketing group. Yeah, they went around to poor neighborhoods and sold cheap crap at a huge markup to people who couldn't afford it. My ethical sensibilities kicked in and I walked away and had my parents pick me up at an Arby's and drive me back to my car. I smelled and was sweaty and felt as though my soul had been sullied. Honestly, I hope the people who thought of that burn. It was so wrong.

Teaching Kindergarten (advanced curriculum) to 4yr olds...parents were pushing for it and my boss went along with them. It was a DISASTER. As I told them it would be if I couldn't at least fast track the 4yr old curriculum first. I mean, our 4s learned how to read, write, add, subtract, basic time and money, counting by 2s, 5s, 10s...and they expected this class to just jump in and do a 'review' and know it all. And nearly every kid was a major behavior problem...I could tell horror stories about that year. No wonder I burned out so soon after that year...never had the heart for the job again.

the worst job i ever had was purely because i was 20 years old and a child lol
i worked at a gas station from 4-1030 5 days a week. It sucked mostly because i was out partying all night long and just didn't have the 'time' to work. i spent many a day hungover and having not had any sleep at all. i'm sure it wasn't the worst job...but i made it the worst job lol

My two worst jobs were bad mostly just because they were so BOOOOORING. I was a receptionist for one and a law clerk for another.

Probably my most fun job was a summer job taking reservations for bus tours to Atlantic City. We really got to know all the different characters who would call on the phone (lots of retirees) and would just gab the rest of the time. I wouldn't have wanted to do it forever, but for one summer it was fun.

Security Guard. It really sucked cause the boss sucked. He had promised me almost full-time hours and said his pay was $7-$10/hour and he said I would be in the higher end due to my experience. Then I signed a 6 month contract. He gave me 20 hours a week on split shifts and paid me $7.25. Plus he would only pay min wage everytime he went along with you on jobs (it would just be randomly, I am coming with today) even though you did all the work and he just sat there. And he was an accountant, so he would pay you on a 2 week time, 3 weeks behind. So it was impossible to keep track and it always seemed less than it should be. He was constantly promoting people, only to fire them a few weeks later. I should say, he never fired, he put them on to his 'reserve force' where it just called them when he was short normal workers so he wouldn't have to pay unemployment. The real kicker was like 3 days before my 6 month contract was up, I was activated for 9/11. He wanted me to bring in my uniform so he could give it to other people, but he was going to keep my $150 deposit since I still worked for him. So I quit to get my money, then he tells me that I didn't quite reach the full 6 months, but he won't hold it against me and proceeded to keep $30 for dry cleaning of 1 shirt and 1 jacket.

In college I helped out in the campus cafeteria working in the bakery. It was pretty easy but when they had big events it was so tedious. How would you like to slice a few hundred pies into 5 ths. It couldn't be 6 pieces because that was too small and it couldn't be 4 pieces because that was too big! Slicing a pie into 5 even pieces is hard. Yikes --I didn't want pie at all for a long while.

Not sure any of the jobs I've had qualify as worst jobs ever, but out of the ones I've done, I'd have to say McDonalds hands down.

It was my 1st job ever, aside from babysitting, I worked there for almost a year. I was on an awesome shift, except for the Saturday morning at 5am shift after working until 11 or 12 (sometimes later) the night before.

It was bearable though, I didn't really have many rules to follow & stayed a lot with my bf at the time.

I really didn't have any jobs that I hated, I really liked them all but I did have one boss that was lazy and made my job harder than it had been before he came and made me not like the job I previously loved.

Hmmm... I'm going to have to say my worst job would have been FDA computer system validation for the IT department. The job it's self was interesting and extremely challenging... but my boss was, how do I put this nicely? A witch? She would ridicule the team daily, be really nice one minute and tear your head off the next... and everyday she threatened to fire me and gave me a really bad review because she would change her mind on "rulings" all the time and then blame me for her changing her mind. I finally pleaded her husband (who was my previous boss) to take me back onto the training team. It was about a year later that her team finally built up a case and went to HR and got her to quit. That was the worst year of my life! But I learned so much from dealing with her that I turned from a "walk over me" employee to a "that is my decision and I'm backing it up."

ok.. so I don't really know my worst job. I have had jobs I hate but also loved at the same time. I worked in a print shop and mostly loved what I did but the people I worked with.. not always so much.

I actually think my worst job was as a newspaper carrier - I lived where it would be -40c and that was stupid cold to do papers in - and even worse than the papers was collecting the money for them. UGH!

I absolutely LOVED most of the jobs I had (I only worked in high school and college). Seriously, I loved the people, the work, and the pay.

But, there was one really bad one. It was at a dr's office. I think I was doing scheduling... or billing? or a little of both? Anyway, I wanted the job, but the main lady I worked with was AWFUL! She swore all the time (and I don't at all) and she was rude and smoked--so she always smelled bad too. I quit after either a couple days or a couple weeks... I can't even remember.

And the other, I never even started. Ha! I got an early morning custodial job on campus (think 4:30am early) and the day I was supposed to start, my alarm went off, I knew I couldn't do it... and I quit. My roommates didn't work and weren't planning to and they stayed up LATE. I was good about going to bed, but I knew I'd be way too tired and not go to bed THAT early.

I've never actually had a job that everyone would say 'really? that sucks!'. If I had to pick, probably the painting job I did in the summers between University years. I didn't hate it, but it was smelly and 'early' (I was 18-20, so yes, 7 am was 'early'). Learned how to paint though so I saved a bundle by painting our house instead of hiring someone

I have pretty much liked, or loved, all my jobs. I worked at McDonald's in high school and I even liked that. Worked on an assembly line at Motorola soldering backs of CRT panels one summer during college and even though it was a little boring, I liked it because I like to say I know how to solder.

I had to paint the outside of my parents' 2 rental houses one summer - I guess I didn't like that too much. But the rest of my jobs and careers have been pretty good.

I have had a couple jobs that I hated. One was working in a store that sold cheap costume jewellery in a totally dead mall. IF I was lucky, I would see maybe 1 customer a shift. I made 1 sale the entire time I worked there (I quit after a month).

#2 would have to be when I was a pool attendant. I basically just cleaned & watched people sit in mineral water for 8 hours a day. All the people that came were super old (it's a health spa), and one time a 90+ year old woman almost drowned. I had to literally jump in and pull her out of the water, then call 911. I was so stressed & upset... I quit a few weeks later (plus the incredible boredom did me in).

#3 would have been working at Second Cup. That one is a toss up between best & worst. It was my most favorite job I've ever had, I LOVED the job. I HATED my boss. He was such an A-hole... he was very abusive and I almost had a nervous breakdown after 9 months of working for him. I quit and felt much better, lol!

I worked at Sears and applied for the cashier job. They offered me a floor job instead & I wanted to buy a car so I took it. I knew nothing of fashion and would these old ladies come in asking for this skirt or this kind of shirt and I was so confused! I actually had one lady yell at me in the store because I had no idea what a pencil skirt was - let alone where to find one in the store. It was awful. My manger had to come over and ask the lady to leave.

I was a cashier at a grocery store in Florida (Publix) through high school and college summers, which I liked pretty well. But one summer my manager at the store wouldn't give me the pay I usually got, so I spent the summer working at U-Haul instead!

It was horrible. The men kept hitting on me all summer (boss included), it was super hot and I was supposed to help re-fill propane tanks...which scared the crap out of me because they didn't train me very well. The craziest part? I had to help drive trucks around to position equipment to our store each night so we'd be ready for the next day's reservations. I once had to drive a 27ft STICK SHIFT truck pulling a 12ft trailer from a different store location to ours! (Major highway y'all, it was bad news)

ahhhhhhh....those were the days

I've actually not had that many jobs in my life and they have all been good and not to bad but I guess my least favorite would have been the summer of 1993 when I worked in a tile factory. The job wasn't hard....all I actually did was maintenance (I babysat the owners kids for like 7 years before so I was like an enigma...."oh she knows the Johnson's....") but it was hot and smelly and the workers (99% men) there were not use to a 19 year old girl hanging around!!!

I would have to say that my least favorite job I had was at a daycare center (and I love kids). On my very first day I had 17 kids aged 3-9 (two still in diapers, and one autistic) by myself with no help and no 'official' training. After working there for a month I got fired....for not having enough one on one with the kids.

Receptionist/assistant bookkeeper/gopher girl for the world's most dysfunctional office ever. The owner was an absolute...well, word I shouldn't say in polite company. He was horrible. His step-daughter was the office manager/accounting/bookkeeper person and she was equally horrible. Her husband was the outside sales rep...nothing like husband and wife screaming at each other in the office. Yeah, it was fun. And she was a total control freak and wouldn't give up control of some of the work but was always complaining about having to work long hours to get everything done.

The boss made me cry one day and I quit the next via email. Yes, I did.

Bakery Manager for a grocery store. It was like pulling teeth to get good employees, and if we didn't have the staff, I would have to work extra hours to make sure everything got done. The contract I signed said 40+ hours, and I regularly did 50-60 hours a week, and since it was a salaried position I didn't get any extra pay. When I was like 7 months pregnant I couldn't find anyone to do the 5 AM stock shift, I had to do it; lifting boxes, and moving the commerical bread around on a dolley. The store manager was a totally jerk too.

Working at Steak 'n' Shake for 2 months the summer I turned 16. Yikes.

I did Drive Through, the lowest job on the totem pole, so when I wasn't doing that, I had to do everything else, too: shakes, cleaning, prepping, etc. Everyone else there was 10+ years older than me so we had absolutely nothing in common, and I had to beg to get someone to take over long enough for me to get one 15 minute break per shift. There was one manager that was nice to me, but the other 3 or 4 barely spoke to me and ignored me when I asked questions or needed help. I was so happy when August rolled around, so I could quit and start my junior year of HS.

My worst job was when, as a university student, I tried to sell the new traffic rules at parking lots. I have NO selling skills, and I am the second worst sales person in the world - second only because Betty MacDonald claimed to be the first. I only lasted a day and sold like ten pieces, and I think even those were the result of pity on the part of the buyers, or maybe due to the fact that I was a young girl and ALL of the buyers were men. ;-)

I'm another who never had a job I *hated*. I worked retail at the ginormous outlet mall in my hometown. The 1 summer I stayed at school to take classes I worked at the American Eagle in the mall. That job sucked because the managers were idiots. I was hired for full time for the summer and never once had a full week. I was hired as a sales associate and often ended up doing the window displays because I was competant and could follow the diagrams well (I was a "merchandising specialist" at the Gap Outlet for a while, which was very similar) even though NO ONE but a manager was supposed to do the window displays. I ended up not giving my 2 weeks and just not showing up after they were complete jerks to me at the end. I had no plans to ever return to retail (I was going into my senior year of college, after which I figured I'd have a "real" job), so I didn't really care what they thought, it's not like I would be using them as a reference.

I loved working in the outlet mall though, despite the miserable customers, awful holidays hours, and sometimes crappy co-workers. I made a lot of friends in those years, and I learned a LOT about customer service, and human nature.
