Default single serving coffee pots...

I'm thinking of getting one for my hubby for Christmas... he loves coffee (and cut his Starbuck addiction ), but rarely do we go through a whole pot... I've been looking at the ones that also have the little pod to use your own coffee instead of only using packet thingies... so either the Cuisinart or the Breville...

Anyone use these? Good investment or not?

thanks much!

Why not try a french press? It's easy to use, fairly inexpensive, and not tied into being a machine, so it's easier to store!

I live for my Keurig. It's the greatest thing ever.

Just an FYI...you can use your own coffee with the Keurig if you want too instead of the K-cups. You just need the adapter...http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/a...oupID=My_K-Cup

I THOUGHT ABOUT getting the keurig for my daughter because she likes coffee and is really the only one who drinks it. I have seen though they have cocoa and other stuff with the Keurig that you can make. The doctor my husband goes to has one of the Keurigs and last time we were there I had a cup. It is so easy to make and I think would be alot of fun not just for your husband but probably you and kiddos too with it making hot cooca as well

I've been thinking about getting one of these. Hubby doesn't drink coffee, and I only drink "designer" coffee once a day or so. If I were to get one, the iced option would be a must have. Looking forward to what others have to say.

I have both the Tassimo and the Keurig. I like the Keurig better. Yes, you can use your own coffee. I am the only one that drinks coffee and for 2 cups a day, 'we' were being very wasteful,

They sell most coffee types at Amazon for a very reasonable price and they are available at Target and Safeway, so you are not totally out of luck should you run out.

Interesting that the Keurig does the "use your own" coffee thing too... It would matter, but we have a lot of ground coffee hanging around, we used to have to by the case when we were with Amway.

Does anyone have Keurig that does the iced option, too? I do like iced coffee and have a bit of an addiction to sweet tea too.

Thanks everyone, this has been really helpful.

I LOVE my Keurig!!! I have become a coffee drinker b/c of it! lol I used to never make coffee & now I drink a cup every day!!! & I LOVE that I can use the filter & make my Starbucks in it!
Rebecca, the way I understand it for the iced, you just brew it over ice. Doesn't make sense to me, b/c you'd think it would just melt the ice. But, I'm not really sure.

The higher end Keurig's have an "iced" option, which simply means that it doesn't heat the water. It just passes the room temperature water through the k-cup like normal and you put ice cubes in it to make it "iced". I have the super awesome platinum edition, because my aunt is amazing and got it for me for my bridal shower

When I was sick I would have it make a cup of hot water and use a regular tea bag in it instead of heating up a whole kettle for just 1 cup. I love it!

Jordan doesn't drink coffee either, so I never made it because I didn't want to waste it, but I LOVE it. The Keurig is the perfect solution

Several of our friends have Brevilles, a few have Keurig - all literally pack them with them when they travel. Yes, I am living in the Seattle area. You can use the same pods in either.

With all my family to do this summer, in living with my cousin, it was the first time I really made use of a Keurig - and now I Am a HUGE Fan. Coffee aside, it even steeps a perfect cup of tea in 3 min.

For making iced - as long as you have the clearance/machine, you can simply place a glass filled with ice under the spigot and you're good - you do need to make "enough" - measure enough pods - or use the iced pods. The southern girl in me cannot fathom lukewarm steeped tea - and we didn't make it that way.

There are of course, iced to go cup accessories, as well.

DH and I are gifting each other a Keurig for Christmas. Appliances - Rebecca, we really have been married awhile, eh?

My friend has the Keurig and I've used it...I love it, but we have 6 adults living in my house and can easily go through 2 pots a day. I didn't know it had an adaptor so you can use your own coffee. I'm going to seriously look into it...not to replace the coffee pot, but to use in addition to it!

The little filter thing is like $17. Totally a worthwhile investment if you love a certain brand of beans or grind or whatever. I'm getting it for my sister (who just bought herself a mini-keurig) along with a pound of Dunkin Donuts grinds for Christmas

Here's the single serve unit: http://www.amazon.com/Keurig-K-Cup-R...1081449&sr=8-1

For iced coffee, I make some and then pop it in the fridge or freezer. As soon as it is room temp, I have it over ice.

Here's a link to the 'brew over ice' option. http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/b...-ice.aspx?ck=1

I don't drink coffee, my hubby does. I bought him the one that brews up to two cups at a time, and it came with two travel mugs. HE LOVES it!! He makes two cups at a time; one he drinks warm in the morning and the other he puts in the fridge and drinks it later in the day cold.

We've never had the pod one, but he loves this one. He picks up flavored creamer(s) and makes whatever flavor he's in the mood for with his regular old coffee

I absolutely want a Keurig. It's just me and my child in my house and she doesn't do coffee I only drink a cup (one large cup) a day at most. I love to have hot or cold tea the rest of the time. The french press I have makes too much for just me. I thought about going out and buying another french press but I decided to just wait. I'm hoping I'm a good girl and get a Keurig soon though. It's in the plans.

I bought a keurig as a Christmas present for my mom. Sams club has a boxed kit that is around 129.00 with the personal k cup and a 60 cup variety pack. It is not the base model but the next step up and was the best deal I could find for a keurig.
