Default Anybody in Alabama?

Let us know you are ok...my heart is with with city of Tuscaloosa and anybody affected by the tornadoes and devastation I'm seeing on TV. It got bad here last night too from the same strand of storms but nothing like what I'm seeing in Alabama.

That storm started just south of us here in MS. Today I just feel shell shocked. I've lived here my entire life and I'm very used to severe weather and tornadoes but yesterday was unlike anything I've ever seen. We had very strong tornadoes on the ground EVERYWHERE. I have never been so scared in my life (except for Katrina).

We had some wind damage and a few downed trees..but the county close to us that was hit with the big F-3 2 weeks ago was hit AGAIN and I think 7 more people were killed.

We were lucky in that they all seemed to track just North or just South of us but we spent hours in the bathroom with the kids yesterday on and off..it was a nightmare. And to see the news coverage this morning...It seriously brings tears to my eyes when I think of what happened and what could have happened.

They're saying it's the worst tornado outbreak in 35 years. Crazy scary stuff.

ETA: just watching the local news..32 confirmed dead in MS...9 in my immediate area. and the numbers in Alabama are just unheard of.

OMG! After seeing that monster of a tornado.....we're all saying that what we got hit with on Monday and Tuesday does not compare to what Alabama got. Our thoughts & prayers go out to them.

On the bright side....we actually are seeing this big orange thing in the sky and its radiating a ton of light! It's the sun!!!! And no more rain or storms for a few days....thank God!

on another note..there are chickens EVERYWHERE in town..guess the big chicken coop at the farm up the road was kinda blown to bits (we didn't have a tornado touch down here just major winds and rain/hail...plus the coop was old)

oh no! lol I mean it's not funny but it kind of is a little

One report I saw last night a reporter said there were cokes falling out of the sky..apparently a convenience store was hit and some of the coolers with cokes got picked up and then dropped somewhere else!

I can't believe the damage in Alabama. They've been showing the damage and videos of the tornados all morning. My heart goes out to those people.

We had some really intense winds here last night. I swear at one point I thought my walls were moving lol. Thankfully we didn't have any damage, there was a huge branch down, down the road and my SIL had her tree in her backyard come down. Missed her house by a hair.

It really is scary, and it seems not a month goes by without a new big weather catastrophy this year. Hope everyone is ok!

When I'm in the states I live in North Georgia/Chattanooga area and all my family lives there...I was really worried about them last night. Thank God they are all safe...but the devastation is just unreal! I grew up in North Georgia and have never been through anything like that. It seems the storms keep getting worse and worse every year! And the devastation in Alabama is just so sad...

It's so crazy! It got scary here last night! We actually had a tornado touch town about a mile from our house & another w/in 5 miles. We spent a little while under the mattress in the bathroom last night. I've never been so scare from a storm in my life! There were semis thrown off of the interstate & trees down on I-75 so much that it was closed this morning. It's open again, but backed up for over 30 miles.

However, we do have friends (DH's best friend) in Huntsville, AL & we talked to the wife last night & noone has been able to get in touch with her husband! Please pray that they find Jeremy & that he is safe!!
ETA: They found Jeremy & he is safe! No idea what kind of condition their house is in, but they are safe!!

hah @ the cokes

and it's ok about the chickens..I giggled a little too. I think most have been picked up by now but it was weird just seeing chickens walking the roads and in people's yards this AM.

those tornadoes were huge! I saw video of them and could not actually picture in my mind how big they must be until actually seeing them. Ive seen a few tornadoes in person but they were little like a few feet across and disappeared almost as soon as they started. The pictures of the areas hit remind me of what it looks like after a hurricane

I'm flipping out watching the news! My former room-mate from before I got married lives down in Mississippi (in Aberdeen). She says there's been tornadoes all around. I am so terrified for her!!!

My prayers are going up for everyone affected by this! We were so very blessed that they weren't as strong when they started up here.

So scary! My sister's father in law was in Toscalousa for business from UT. He had just gotten to his hotel before the tornadoes hit. He was on the phone with his wife and they lost contact. We were all really terrified for him. He is luckily safe and sound now. It's crazy to think that we (my family and my sis family) live right in "tornado alley" and have not yet (knock on wood) been in a tornado, and he lives in UT and was just in one. What are the odds of that?! So super scary and terrible. So sad for all the deaths and injuries caused by this huge storm
