power is flickering here sigh.. we have about 60 mph winds, i just went out to move my car away from under the tree that's leaning after the weekend storms and was literally knocked to my knees by the wind

If it stayed out of town then all my family should be safe. I am sure people are having a hard time using phones there due to all the towers being down and phone traffic.
I have heard from another family member via FB that said they were in the clear and he is near Joplin.

Ugh! I am just worried sick about everyone and all these storms. The terrible stories of missing children, close calls, the rising death toll... All so close to home literally and figuratively! Makes me sick to think this could very well be me and my family or any one of my family and friends. So sad!! We are lucky tonight and most likely not getting all the severe weather they predicted but still... You just never know

My nerves are shot!! I was talking to my sister as she went down into her basement, then we got disconnected. My mom and one sister are on the north end of Joplin...so glad it went further north! Looks like they are down to a tornado watch. I sure hope my mom made it safely up and down her basement stairs - she's almost 90 and it freaks me out!
Glad to hear everyone else has stayed safe! Very rough night!

morning girls. we made it through. one touched down briefly 3 miles north of our house. we watched it take out 2 pivots and some trees then it was gone. it touched down again way north. there were 2 people killed and one critically injured in another tornado just before this one closer to great bend. we knew this family very well. they are the reason we are living in western/central ks now. please keep them in your prayers. i am not saying names bc they are not being released yet, and i want to honor the family. it is very sad. also homes were damaged in that tornado

Hate to hear that, Laura. Our thoughts & prayers to all affected by the storms. There were 3 killed last night in a small town in NW Arkansas. We're under the gun today...but when we make it through this evening it should be calm for a little while. Praying for everyone that its a safe night.

They just broke in on the radio here and we are under a tornado watch until 6 pm. again. Sigh.

tornado warning now, there are tornados on the ground just south of my house and currently near my bils house. freaking out.

I can't find my husband anywhere you guys please pray. He was in his truck and now I cannot get through to his cell phone. There are tornados on the ground everywhere by me, there was a funnel cloud just outside my work. We have no storm shelter here. My son is okay, my daughter is at school but I cannot find Jeff.

Um. Today.
I was at the doctor's office and a tornado hit 15 min from my house. Then I was headed home and 5 minutes after I left my Dr. office, a tornado hit there. Scary!

thank you girls.
stay safe everyone. it is nasty windy here today and misty/raining. just plain crappy. i am not even looking to see if we are in a tornado watch or anything. i am trying to stay busy so that i don't think about everything.

Storm's moving in right now. Looks like we'll be heading to the basement soon. Hubby's prolly gonna get off work right in the middle of it. Will he wait at work for it to pass??? No way. He'll drive right through it. He's gonna give me a heart attack one of these days...
