Default If I'm not around today.....

..it's because we're playing in the rain!!!

After a couple of months of no rain and awful temps...we've gotten wonderful gentle soaking rain all morning..and will get some for a little while longer, and it's beautiful!

Sounds like fun!

Hoping we get some of that up here too! As a homeowner, I LOVE it when I don't have to run the sprinklers... And my lawn needs it!

We need just the opposite....I am dying for some sun here. July and first half of August and most of June has been terrible here.

But....they say we might hit 30 degrees end of next week. I have to see first.

yay!! I love the rain... I need to move where it rains more....

My hubby was just in Dallas this week on business...they were teasing him at the plant that he ruined their record of 100 temps by bringing cooler WI weather since the day he was there it was only 99.

Valerie - TX has been in a SEVERE drought. Worst single year drought in history. Some parts of the state haven't had rain since last October. Cattlemen are having to sell of their stock because they can't water them and the cows are just dying. It's been bad Our side of the state isn't anywhere near as bad as out West, but it's been a bad year for us.

Rebecca - and pooh on all of them for even WANTING that record LOL I'll definitely take 99 over 110 any day!

I live in the Oklahoma panhandle and we are in our worst drought in history. The old timers swear that we are in much worse shape than the dust bowl. We've received like two inches of rain this year! And it didn't snow last winter either. My husband is a farmer/rancher and we've already sold off 1/5 of our cows and our corn crop is going to totally suck this year. We are hoping to end the year with some business, but will be happy to escape bankruptcy... because that's what a lot of people in our area will be facing. Sad stuff.

I bet the rain is even better than snow this winter right now!

Yep we have gotten only like 1.3 inches for the year up here too. It is so dry and brown and hot! Guess God is just preparing me for my move to Kuwait!

I feel for the farmers and ranchers! I water my trees every day and they are still just barely hanging on.

Enjoy it, girl! We've had several days of rain/thunderstorms this week after being in exceptional drought (started in October). It's definitely a beautiful thing!

Have fun in the rain Darcy! We get A LOT of rain here in Northern England so it is just as well that I like the rain, especially sitting in our conservatory with the rain drumming off the roof

Don't take all of it! We desperately need it. There are huge cracks in the ground and no water for my family's cattle. We can't sell the cattle because the market is being flooded right now and auction houses are not taking in any more. There isn't any hay to be harvested for the winter. It is bad. We have a 21 in rainfall deficit right now. The area has actually been in a deficit since Ike in 2008. Any rain showers we have gotten since January have not been measurable rain.

Sorry to be a downer. It just makes me so sad.

Have fun, Darcy!

I feel really bad for all of my old customers all over Texas...I can only imagine how hard the drought has been on all of them. (I used to test dairy farms all over Texas for the Dair Herd Improvement Assc.)

I can live with more sun, but I truly hope we don't reach over 25 down here in Limburg. My house is never more than a degree or two uder the outside temp and I will die.

I wanted the record! Sure I would love the 99 degree weather but I just suffered through 40 days of 100+ weather. I might as well get a record out of it...

The rain this morning was lovely though! So super nice!

I was wondering what was happening for you all! I'm so sad for you! My FIL is a cattle rancher in Oregon (where they had cooler than normal year) and I kinda "get" some of the ranching worries now. Price of beef is going to drop right now, but come next year...its going to go waaaaay up. But a little too late for you all especially you can't sell off the herd. I'm praying for rain!!!
