Default Galleries?

Okay, now that I've learned what happened in Digiland, I have another question. (I've been on a little digi hiatus for a couple of years)... Now that no one seems to really hang around DST or MSA, do you still upload to their galleries? Or is Me So Scrappy the main "open gallery"? Do most people have one open gallery still with all of their work, since store galleries are only for layouts with that store's products? Or do you use another site entirely? I want to dust off my old scrap blog and start adding to my old gallery/portfolio, but not sure where to post?

I'm a bit biased, but I like Me So Scrappy best. That being said, I also post to DST, DSA and MSA plus whatever store I used products from. I post to quite a few galleries, but just trying to get my work out their for my designers.

I upload to MSA, DST, DSA, MSS, SB (scrapbook.com), Club CK and 2peas

tho, I rarely get any views at MSA, DST or MSS, so I'm not sure why I upload there anymore other than to have everything in a couple places in case someone wants to see my gallery or because the designers I CT for want me to post to those galleries... I pretty much just stick to SSD product, so they look the same as my gallery here lol.

You get views at DSA? That's the one I get the least amount of views/comments at and the one I consider dropping the most. Or did it just get left off the list?

I post CT layouts at the relevant store forum, DST, and MSS. I don't have 1 gallery with everything, but since 90% of my LOs use SSD stuff I'd call this my main gallery. I may be in the minority here, but unless you're applying for CTs, I don't think you really need to have a gallery with everything.

I post my layouts stuff at SSD (my main gallery since 98% only use SSD stuff ), Log Your Memory, MyScrapbookArt, ClubKeepsake, and MeSoScrappy... if I run out of my 5 a day allotment at MSA - and I HAVE to load something for CTs because I'm going out of town and can't wait another day, I will dump it at DST... but I don't care to post there. ClubKeepsake is where I get the most views and comments.

I am on one kit CT that is not here - so I do post her stuff at her home store.

For hybrid - I post at the above and also The DigiChick (open and my full hybrid gallery is here - just hybrid), 2 peas, paper issues (per topic request), and split coast stampers... the last one is where I get the most views and comments for hybrid.

These are the galleries I upload to with my comment/view rate lol..

SSD lots of views and comments
DST - still get a few comments 1-2 per page usually
MSA - rarely get any comments anymore and 1-2 views per layout
Log Your Memory - very few views at all..I'm thinking of stopping my uploads there
Me So Scrappy - a few comments..not as much as DST though
Scrapbook.com - by far I get the most comments and views from this site and they are usually very genuine comments
2peas - right behind scrapbook.com with views and comments

I kind of find it interesting that other than SSD the sites that I get the most genuine views and comments are mainly paper sites.

DST - this is my full gallery - it's where everything I've done digi is stored ( I started digi the same week-ish DST opened, so everything is there. I like having a full gallery somewhere to view and for my family to view and keep up)

SSD - my home

MSA - rarely viewed, never commented on

Club CK - lots of views and comments

2peas - some views and comments

MSS - no comments, no views

Digital Scrapper/Scrappers Guide - lots of views and comments

Scrapbook.com - lots of comments and views

Splitcoast - fair views & comments

Yes I do get views and comments at DSA, not many, but more than DST, MSA or MSS...

I totally need to change where I upload. Right now I upload to DST, MSS, The Digichick, LYM and the store the kit or most products came from.

I will always upload to DST because that has been my main gallery since I began digital scrapping. I do get some comments and views.

I get a few comments here and there at TDC.

Then at MSS and LYM I usually get nothing. Or rather it is very rare that I get comments. Will probably drop these soon.

I stopped uploading to MSA when they were possibly shutting down and just never started again.

I also stopped at DSA because I got no comments or views.

I have an account at 2peas and scrapbook.com. Think I will switch over to them for future uploading.

I think one of the problems with these galleries is that people upload their layouts and never comment on others layouts out of courtesy. I usually will comment on at least 1 layout for every layout I upload. And that's on a busy day - I like to comment on 3 for every 1 I upload. I don't remember where I heard this suggestion but it has stuck with me and I have tried to abide by it for nearly 3 years.

Well I just created galleries at Scrapbook.com and mesoscrappy. I'll do club keepsake later.

I'd really love to get more feedback on my LOs. Hopefully it will happen there as I never ever got any views at DST.

See I hear of so many people at scrapbook.com getting tons of comments. I tried it the first time I heard of that here and got nothing. Weird.

When you upload don't upload to the digital gallery...just the general gallery.

for me... it's not about the number of comments I receive, it's about the views... not everyone leaves love in galleries, but spend time just looking at layouts to find kits they may be interested in or find inspiration from a layout.

and yes like Nikki said... don't upload to the digital layouts gallery at SB, just the general "layout" gallery

I upload to SSD, DST, DSA, MSS, and LYM. SSD is the only site where I get regular views and comments. I occasionally get a comment here and there at DST and MSS. I almost never get comments or views at LYM or DSA. I used to upload everything to MSA, but when they were talking about shutting down the site, I stopped uploading and just haven't gone back.

I try to do this too, though I admit it's a little frustrating at times when you are so diligent about leaving love for others and never get any in return. And yes, I know it's not all about the comments, but let's be honest. Everyone loves feedback, right?

Totally agree Kendall and Alisa. I have gotten more slack on it over the last year because of my frustration. But, I try to remember that golden rule to "treat others as you wish to be treated".

This. I totally leave comments to random layouts that I love, because I love them and I want the author to know. I don't have any rules about it, if I don't have time, I don't comment for weeks, if I have time, I comment a lot.

I don't expect anything in return, but if you commented dozens of someone's LOs and they never even bother to look at yours, then I get tired, honestly. It's not obligatory of course, if you don't like, don't comment, but sometimes it would would be... nice.

Hopefully I don't sound like a 3-year-old now! There is a little circle of people who comment my LOs here (I only post at SSD), and they are always genuine commens, so I'm actually rather happy with it.

I just started a Facebook group for posting layouts, if anyone is interested. I figure that since most of us are on Facebook daily, it might be nice to post and leave love there.

I think if you're looking for comments, then you almost need to play the praise game on the forums, otherwise, I don't expect people to comment on my layouts, even if I leave comments on others'... I go to the open galleries for inspiration and to see if there are new techniques I'd like to try. I think the majority of people find a store they like and browse those galleries tho... I know I do most of my browsing in SSD's gallery because this is my home and where I'm going to like most of the layouts, kwim?

I wish there were "like" buttons in the open galleries, because I'd be more likely to hit "like" than leave a comment on a layout I like, if I'm being honest. That's why I love when my FB friends post their layouts to FB. I just don't think the majority make it a habit of commenting on layouts.

I think a Like button would be cool, but only if it was a genuine Like button. Not the FB one. I wouldn't like SSD and FB be connected in any way - I do LOs featuring my friends and my friends' kids, and some of them gave me permission to post here only, but not on FB. If Facebook's Like was used, they'd be connected and I'd be in trouble. I'd rather do without comments in such a case. :-)

I agree... on my first few uploads I did the one for one thing at MSS and got no feedback. I'm actually thinking about not uploading there.

I actually wanna give LYM a go and see. Ditto Club CK.

I use SB.com as my main gallery -many views and comments -But I'm also active there.

SSD - since I mostly buy here I upload here. Fair amount of comments and views.

I've given up on both DST and MSA. Would only load there if it was a CT requirement.

Other stores - only if I've used a fair amount of their product. Very few views.
