Default Software Question

ok, I currently scrap with Photoshop CS2 and I have the first version of lightroom ... like 1.1 or something like that.

With the new laptop I know I need to upgrade my Lightroom but should I upgrade my photoshop too??

Opinions?

I still use cs2. I tried out a trial of a newer one once, and was confused by a few slight differences so I gave up and haven't ever upgraded. I would like to get a newer version someday, but right now, I don't think i need it...

looking on academic superstore they have this bundle:
Photoshop CS5 Extended and Lightroom 4 Student and Teacher Edition
PLUS - Buy CS5.5 today and receive a free upgrade to CS6
for $274.95

Is this the version of photoshop I would want if I am not buying the whole suite? The "extended" part is what has me confused.

I think CS2 is a pretty good product. I've used CS2, CS3 and CS5. I had to upgrade to CS5 when I converted to a MAC. I actually liked CS2 quite a bit. If you have the $$ to upgrade, you might just try out a trial version to see if the new features are worth it to you. Good luck!

That is a great deal! I agree that it would be good for you to try out the trial version of PS5 and make sure you like it.
