Default Send me all the Tylenol ya got...

I'm hurting and I know I will only be worse tomorrow when I wake up! I finally got a chance to go to an actual belly dance class. They have classes in the building at a local park but I never get to go because I don't have a babysitter at night. So, it just so happened my hubby got off work and came home so my cousin grabbed me and we rushed out the door. What a workout. I've done some DVD's and some on TV but none of them even came CLOSE to what we did. I was dying!!! I can tell I'm going to be in so much pain tomorrow!

We have Zumba classes (basically belly dancing) at our YMCA. I haven't had the courage to try them yet but I hear they are a great workout.

That is so funny you are talking about this because I think I am going to sign up for a class, I may re-think it now though I don't like pain very much but I do need to shape up a bit and there are like 4 of us doing it together so I guess it may not be so bad.....THanks for the heads up..I will have plenty of drugs handy f

I took belly dancing last fall and LOVED it!!! The work out was great and my belly was definetly tighter by the end of the 8 weeks, Its was so much fun! You might hurt tomorrow, but stick with it if you can! Good luck!

Glad you got to get out and try the class. Sorry about the pain but it will go away . . . are you going to take the class regularly?

I'd love to take belly dancing classes...very cool! I've heard it's a great workout. Sorry you're hurting, but I think no matter what you do that is excercise using muscles you haven't used in a while...it's gonna hurt! Remember - no pain, no gain.

I'm feeling much better now. The class was fun but she works you HARD. She's tough! But for that beginners class she really focuses on the muscle building than the actual dancing part (although we did that too). It helps that I have always been a very flexible person but some of those things we did were so hard (most the floor work bothered me). And she has eyes on every part of her head because she won't miss a beat if you get/do something wrong. LOL!

The instructor is an older lady who was taught by THE BEST in New York at Bellydancing by Serena Studios (Serena Wilson)!

I really really want to stick to it but with my hubby being over the road all the time, I don't have anyone to watch the kids. They have the beginner classes Mondays and Wed's at 8pm and my cousin & aunt who have been taking for a long time say sometimes her classes run 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. So I know my in-laws who are in not-so-great health will not want to be out that late both of those days. I was thinking that I could drive them to my in-laws house (a good 10-15 minutes out of the way) but on Mondays my son has dance class and I don't think I would have enough time to get there. I wish she made a home DVD because I haven't found one home video YET that breaks each step down and also starts at an actual BEGINNER level to get your muscles built up to do the actual dancing.
