I took driver's ed at 16, I think. Didn't get my license until a few months before I turned 18...at that point I hated driving. That and I had no vehicle to practice in...both my parents had standard transmission, which to this day I still can't manage.

My first car was a standard I haven't driven one in years but I think it's probably be like riding a bike...something you just don't forget.
