ACDSee help :)

Since you all got my hooked now LOL here are a few questions.

#1 if I find stuff I want to delete while I am sorting can I just hit delete or do I need to go open that folder outside of ACDSee and delete it?

#2 Should I move stuff before or after I tag it if I find something in the wrong spot (like a layered page in my flat page folder)

#3 (Not just ACDSee related) Do you keep all the files from Bree - like the small previews and the full size jpegs? I know I need previews and my layered PSD's but now I am wondering if I can save space and delete those jpegs

1 - you can delete it inside of ACDSee

2 - You can tag something and then move it, it doesn't matter. I think it really only reads the tag.

3 - I keep everything from Bree just cuz it's all relatively small. Although I suppose if I really needed the space I would delete everything BUT the layered PSD's.

well I have 200 gigs full on my 300 gig EHD - so I want to save some space if possible.

ONLY move stuff *in* ACDSee. If you tag something and then move it independent of ACDSee, you will lose your tag.

Just to add to #2... you can move it after you tag it as long as you move it in ACDSee. If you move it outside of ACDSee (windows explorer or something) it will lose the tag!

And actually, for templates, I delete everything but the layered file because you can see it right there.

To find out if you've moved stuff outside of ACDSee, go to Database-->Database Maintenance. It will go through and analyze your database and show you a question mark (?) if something has become an "orphan". Then you can choose to either relink or just delete.

Let me know if you need a visual or extra info.

P.S. re: templates

I delete all but the PSD or TIFF files and then throw them all in a big folder by designer i.e. 'Bree's Templates,' 'Jen's Templates,' etc. unless it is a special mini-album.

I didn't get to do any tagging last night. I spent another night backing up my stash to DVD and tying ribbons on bridal shower invitations, lol. Maybe tomorrow I'll actually get a chance to play.
