So I'm sitting here at 1:38 am my time posting a layout before I go to bed... when David Cook comes blaring out of my cell.
This is my default ringtone, so I know immediately it can't be my boyfriend, my best friend, or anyone from my family. I look, and it's some zipcode I've never heard of before. I end the call and reverse the # on Google (thank you, Internet!). While I am searching, the # calls again, and I again end it, knowing it will go to my VM so this random person can figure out that they're calling the wrong person. I find out it's some # from VA, which is 4 states over from here, which means it's also 1:38 am there. That's a little odd. Then I think to myself, 'Well, my ex does live in VA, so maybe it's him??' He doesn't have my cell #, though, and we don't have any children together, so why would he be calling me after months of being incommunicado and at 1:38 am? The # calls a THIRD TIME. Now I'm really freaked out, so I let it ring all 4x, so I can know w/o question that it's going to go to my VM. When I do a geographic search on where the # is from, it comes up in the middle of Nowheresville, VA, several hours from where my ex would be living, and then I see it's approximately 2 hours south of where my ex-stepdaughters live, so I briefly toy with the idea that maybe one of them has run away or something happened to them, and that's as far as they made it and now they're calling me for help? Again, though, the oldest is only 17 and would never do something like that, and how would she have gotten my cell #? The # itself reversed to a man's name I'd never heard of and I'm fairly sure is not a relation of either my ex or his daughters as well as to a rural route address. There was no fourth call or VM left. I still have my # from my hometown, so the person may have even been trying to reach someone from that area which is 2 1/2 hours north of where I'm now living. I'm a little wigged out. I think I will go to bed now. |

Weirdo..why DIDN'T you answer? I like people to call me and either a) try to annoy me or b) think im someone else and bother me in the process, so I can yell at them.

Alright girl, we all agree. If the number shows up again, you HAVE to answer it just so WE can all find out who's calling you!

I so would have answered and given them an earful! No one should call anyone at 1:30 am unless it's a huge emergency.

I get wrong numbers all the time on my cell phone. I have a 6 in my number three times and people are always calling me. But I answer it because for some reason I just love saying "yes, I am sure this not is ###-###-####."

Hmmm interesting. I agree with the other girls that I would have answered it too. It would bother me way too much not knowing who it was.

I would have answered it, too. One time, I kept getting calls from someone with the same number as me with a different prefix (the last 4 numbers were the same, the first 3 were from the same town here). I thought it was really weird, but couldn't answer it because while I could see someone was calling, I didn't have enough signal to answer, lol. So I called him back from my landline and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. But, the number never came up again.

I use to be like you too and would have never answer a number that I don't know ...that was up until two months ago the day my brother was killed. Some lady just happend to be driving on the same road he wrecked his motorcycle on and found his cell phone. She looked through it and found the number for "home". She called my mom's cell phone (the number my brother had marked as home) from her cell phone.
So now because of that I will always always answer my phone. Even if it rings in the middle of the night......I'd never forgive myself if I missed a call like that!!! Sorry it freak you out though....isn't it funny how a little thing like that can scare the bejezzus out of us!!! What probaly happend was they mis dialed the first time and then just kept hitting re dial, they probably didn't even listen tot eh VM...as soon as it clicked on they probably hung up and just hit redial again. I do that all the time if I am calling DH!!
