Default Okay all you Twilight fans....enlighten me!!

I need something to read. I want to know what is so wonderful and awesome about the Twilight series. I'm not a fan of the whole Vampire genre, so that already has me second guessing, but I can't help but be curious when I see how many people are just ga-ga over the series. So please, share with me - why should I be reading Twilight and will I like them if I'm not a fan of vampires? I really want to know!!

I agree with Holly. but i still like the vampire genre anyway, lol. the love between the two of them is amazing. I'm so jealous. its hard to explain it without spoiling too much. I'm just in love with these books. I usually really get into books anyway, but these are the best i have ever read, hands down. My mom and i swap books and now she wants to read them. but i don't know if i want to part with them, lol. she'll have to promise to guard them with her life!

Just READ THEM. You won't be disapointed!

I've been thinking about reading it too. Everyone I know says it is just awesome. I will probably pick up a copy to read while we're on vacay this weekend.

I just bought it, but I haven't read it yet. I am hesitant because I heard how addictive they are, and there is no book store near me LOL

Okay...I'm probably going to get stones thrown at me BUT...I've read the series...and while it was okay...I don't get what is SO amazing about it. I read them b/c my sister who never reads was raving about them so I thought..well if it's got her reading then it must be something. After the first book, I was like what's the deal...I went on and read the others and yes, they were okay, but I read somewhere someone comparing them to Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling and there is NO comparison. Rowling is in an entirely different league as far as writing, plot and character development. I mean...they're really okay but not the best thing I've ever read. I also found myself liking Jacob better than Edward which I don't know if that's what the author wanted or not..she kind of meanders some in her plots.

Please no one stone me or throw me out of the forum lol...

Oh I just reread my post and I hope it didn't sound snotty...I wasn't trying to...like I said..they're okay, and I'll probably read the next one. It may be that it's just not really my genre...I'm happier with Sharon Kay Penman or Jean Plaidy kwim? lol

no ones going to throw stones at you! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. these books are just kinda the type i tend to read anyway. so naturally, i love them. I have never read a Harry Potter book and don't get what all that is about, lol. though, if i did read them i'd probably like them too lol. I don't hate Jacob, i just prefer Edward. i feel for her having to choose between them. I won't say too much, but the last couple chapters in Eclipse had me in tears, poor girl.

I read Anne Rice's series way back in college...the twilight books are a much more "watered down" version of vampires which is good I think since they are marketed to young adults...I sure wouldn't want my teen reading Anne Rice kwim?

I'm not usually into vampire stories either, but I absolutely love me a good romance novel and so I'm just really really drawn to the love story of Bella & Edward! They are SO addictive, I read Twilight in about 4 hours and then read both New Moon & Eclipse in less than 24 hours! And I've already reead the end of Eclipse again! Now I'm anxiously counting the days til Breaking Dawn comes out (and my DH thinks I've absolutely lost my mind lol)!

They're just good! Just read them you'll see! I will fully admit that she is not the best writer--as in the the writing is a million times better in harry potter than these-- but it's the story. The story is fabulous! I feel pretty lucky because I didn't know it was about vampires when I started (I read them before it got so huge I guess) so that added a nice spin for me. I have been rereading them and love them even more this time around. The story is just so captivating. It won't hurt to read them!

I have the first one too and I'm hesitant because I don't need a new addiction! LOL!

Okay okay okay
So... here's my deal.
I HATE Twilight... and I can't stop reading the books... (well, I've caught up... but I don't know why I'm seriously dying for the next book)
I'll tell you what, I hated it so much after the first book (I read it after my c-section) that I gave it to one of the nurses when I was done.
It's like reading a 15-year-old's diary sometimes... it's like this completely unrealistic ideal of true love... it's really innocent. And that irritated me completely until I decided that it's okay. Teenaged girls get their fill of reality day after day, so I think if you take it for what it is, it's really sweet.

You just have to take it for what it is... a vampire romance for teenage girls.

I hate myself for loving Twilight.
**off to self-flagellate now**

Look out Nikki- I've got stones! LOL! That's what I love about SSD, you can say what you think and nobody goes crazy catty on ya!

I'm STILL reading Twilight- but that's simply because I'm a slow reader and have my hands full with a sick little one- it's really a quick and easy read. I'm enjoying it- the love story mainly (and I'm not usually into that).

I agree its like a watered down Anne Rice as far as storyline, and not deep fantasy like JK Rowling, but I still like it!

Worth $8 for paperback. HOPING to finish it tonight and start New Moon!

To me, the vampire part was secondary, the love story is what dragged me in.

I sort of agree with you... not to mention I don't quite "get" the insane, abusive, controlling guys being the hottest thing ever.
I've read the books - the writing was amusing for a quick read, however if I had a teenage daughter, I'd pretty much be scared/worried if she found somebody as controlling/psychotic as Edward (LoL - and I say this as I was in a control-ish relationship for a few years in my youth)

(ducks and covers)

Ok I sat down after dinner tonight, and started reading. I'm into chapter 6 now, and I really like it, partly because it is a quick easy read. LOL
