Hi, ladies.
Please bear with me for a second. I’m just bummed right now and need to let it out. My little girl turns 4 tomorrow. We already celebrated over the weekend with a mini vacation to Knotts Berry Farm. We all had a blast! I wanted to do something small for her actual birthday at her preschool, maybe bring in cupcakes and have the kids sing happy birthday to her. There’s just a little situation at her preschool right now. DD’s been there since June and gets along great with the teachers and kids. Well, for the new school year, she has a new teacher. She is as green as they get. My first impression of her was not good. She does not look you in the eye and tries to avoid you if she can. I don’t see the connection she has with the kids yet. I’ve shared my concerns with the director and the procedure is that the school monitors the teacher/children relationship for two weeks before they evaluate and see what is/isn’t working. I am also giving her the benefit of the doubt as I maybe jumping the gun too soon, just as long as she’s not intrusive to my kid. Well the past couple of days, DD’s had a hard time responding to her. Last Friday she got written up for bad behavior. DD was told more than three times to help pick up toys and DD chose to ignore her teacher. The write-up was eventually tossed out when I talked to the director, as write-ups only apply to children who were intrusive to other children. Today, DD had another situation. She was involved in a fight that was started by another kid who was much bigger than her. She fought back and started a chain reaction with the other kids and all hell broke loose. The teacher dealt with them accordingly. I’m really not sure what the other teachers did when this was all happening as I’m hearing this second hand from DH. Anyway, my point to this whole thing, is while I want to do something for DD at school, DH thinks it’s probably best not to rile up the kids anymore than they have to especially with a brand new teacher who doesn’t have a good handle on her kids yet. I’m just bummed for her and for me. She will have a cake tomorrow night at Grandpa’s house, though. Thanks for listening.
