Default MPT Question

Ok, I saw the post yesterday about the quality of the prints and thought I would go ahead and try them. I know the uploader wasn't working but I got it to work this afternoon. It took over an hour for all my LOs to upload. I couldn't order the prints right away b/c I had to take my dog to the vet (a crappy story for another day). So I just got home to order my prints and I can't find them anywhere. So now I am reading some info on the website and it looks like you have to order them right away??? Is that true? Or am I just not looking in the right place?

Thanks for any help I can get.

I read on DST that you "log out" after so long, but I don't know if they have fixed that problem or not. I hope so for your sake! I hope your doggie is ok!

I read at DST that you have to add them to your cart right after you upload. They need to fix that... give members albums online to store and view their uploads... IMO.

I have another question: I saw on the other thread about adding the .25 so your LO doesn't get cropped. Can you do that on their website w/o having to open all your LOs in PSE to resize them? I hope you can do it on their website b/c that would be such a pain to have to go back and do it in PSE. Sorry I am so cranky today...not usually like this

Ok, I got my LOs uploaded and finally ordered. I had to install the active x before I could upload. If I exited out then it would give me the dreaded error that everyone is receiving. So I just wanted everyone to know that you can get it to work by installing the active x.

I hope I like the way they turn out. If they are anywhere close to COSTCO quality I will be happy. I love COSTCO but they are really expensive to have my LOs printed there, especially since I need to print close to 100.

I am just now waiting on my $100 in free photos coupon. I will let you know how I like the prints.

You have to order $10 in single page prints (good luck, because their upload tool has been down for most of us forever)... then they will email the coupon to you for the $100 in free prints.

Thanks, Meg! I just resized a bunch of layouts. For $10-$15, I have to at least try it. I am super-picky, though, so I'll let y'all know what I think when I get my prints... if I ever get in!

Has anyone else been able to get in since yesterday. I even sent an email to customer service asking when it would be working again and I haven't heard anything yet, but it's only been about 14 hours. I'm a bit impatient!

There are people at DST who have emailed and not received replies.... DAYS after contacting CS. Something must be going on b/c when I contacted them when I ordered a book last month, they got back to me in 2 hours. Prathiba (owner of MPT) posts at DST and she won't reply to people asking what's going on... but she'll post answers to other questions. It must be serious. lol

I just placed my order. Apparently they were upgrading some things. You can now order things from a "gallery" of your layouts. I haven't gotten my coupon yet, but it's only been 10 minutes! I mostly ordered old layouts that I haven't gotten around to printing, but I did make sure to order one layout that I printed at Costco last week just so that I can do some comparisons. Will post when I get them in a few days!

From what I understand just from reading tons of threads about MPT verses "others", the prints are going to differ in appearance. It seems that places like Wal Mart, Costco, Sam's Club ect....print on photo paper and I "THINK" ink jet (like) printers that use like "real ink" (for lack of a better explanation ) and MPT prints on 100lb card stock and uses HUGE laser printers (I think I read somewhere they use the exact same ones like Sutterfly/winkflash).

Now I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing...I just think they really are going to "look" different. Personally I have never had anything printed from Costco or Sam's Club. I have had a few gifts printed at Wal Mart and I have tons of "pictures" around my house printed from Wal MArt and I can see a difference but it's not really a quality difference. My Wal Mart prints are just really really shine and my MPT prints aren't they are more matte and I think that probably has to do with them being printed on card stock instead of photo paper.

I really think it all boils down to individual preference. Just like the coke vs. pepsi debate () they are essentially the same ingredients but you have your die hard coke fan and your die hard pepsi fan....it's all a matter of taste!!

I did not realize they printed on cardstock, and having been in the card business for two years, there was a significant difference between it and photo paper. I would have preferred the heavier paper over photo paper, so I was totally ignoring the MPT threads, I definitely think I'll have another look.

Meredith, I'd love to see what you think, I know you're picky about these types of things LOL!

I see they have an 8MB limit per page. Some of my pages are up to 3MB bigger than this. Is there a trick everyone uses to make them smaller while still retaining the quality? I save mine at the highest quality, but have no idea if that's really necessary.

At DST most people were saying they save at a quality of 10 rather than 12 and were getting great prints still.

this new upgrade is much better than the other way! Before you couldnt' see what didn't upload if something went wrong (i.e. the first time I tried I had 29 prints but only 22 showed up in my shopping cart but it was only the #22 not pictures so I couldn't tell what didn't upload?)

With the gallery view now you can see which ones didn't upload and on the upload page it shows you which ones are over for 8 MB (I had one) I ordered mine yesterday afternoon and this morning I had my coupon in my email box (though it was in my paypal addy box not email addy I registered with @ MPT) so if you use 2 different emails like I do then check the paypal one

I just finally ordered some last night. I've never printed before, so I have nothing to compare to, but their prices seem good, so I figured I'd give it a shot! I'm so excited to finally see some of my los printed out! I got single 12x12 sheets since I've got a ton of books already from when I paper scrapped, I can just load them into those books.

I save mine at between an 8 & 10 and all of my pages are between 1.9MB and 2.5MB. I just had 20 printed (and have 224 more on the way) and I personally think they turned out great

Maybe with their fabulous price I'll save a LO at what I normally do and then the same LO at a "MAX" quality and see the difference!!

I always save my .jpg files at a 10 quality. From what I understand the naked eye can't tell a difference between 10 & 12 quality.

My issue isn't with how matte or glossy the paper is, but if the layouts look like they have real depth. Are the photos crisp? Are the colors true? Their prices are great, and even if I don't absolutely LOVE the layouts I get, I am going to at least print some of my old layouts that have been sitting on my computer for 3 years! And I got my coupon just after I posted that I hadn't gotten it yet! And I DID get an email in response to my customer support email that I sent on Friday. They were just letting know that the printer was up and functional. So far I am impressed. If the prints are decent, I may have found a new printing home...

Does anyone know how long you have to order to get the coupon? I think I remember someone saying you had to order by the end of August to get the coupon. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks!

Another question: If I'm understanding what everyone has said, I should add a .25" border around each lo? Do you just do a white border?

Thanks!

hmmmm. I put a white border around my pages... I wonder what they will look like. I didn't have the original psd files on my computer still. Oh well! I don't mind a white border.

Megan, how long did it take for your pages to get to you? I am guessing that since we are on the same side of the country, my processing/delivery time would be about the same...

Oh, I haven't received my pages yet... I ordered them on Saturday. My last order was a photobook and I got it 2-3 business days after I ordered it.
