Default I just filled up on gas!

There is no way I can afford over $4/gallon working from home as I do, full time. My BIL's gas is over $5 in Florida and I'm just really hoping that ours doesnt go up that much. But just in case, $49 just went down the toilet in gas for my car.
When will this ever end? I'm so sick of it!

Thank goodness I filled up last night for 3.47/gallon. The SAME gas station is now at 4.09 (at 10pm) I'm sure it'll be even higher in the am. The news lady here said though prices will be back to "normal" whatever that is..mid week next week for us to not worry..but still the gouging is annoying. It's going on bad here

Yeah it's crazy here. Up .60 in less than 24hrs so far. I'm sure it will get far worse too. Going to be conserving as much as possible this week.

Yep, I drive a Ford Expedition...talk about BAD mileage Thankfully I don't drive it that often and when I do it is pretty short trips so a full tank will last me over 2 weeks sometimes longer!!!! I am certain it the hurricane causing this and I hope it does go back down but I have 1/2 a tank so I am good for a while!!!!

Gas here where I live went down almost 10 units since last month because the world prices have been going down. But it still isnt enough. It needs to go down 10 units or more so people can really afford to take their cars out again

Last night I filled up at 3.69 a gallon and was a little mad about it. Today by 2pm it was freakin' $4.25 here! Then I come home, watch the news, and see that Ike hasn't hit and a barrell of oil is down to 100. What the heck? How can they justify it. If the oil rigs get wiped out I can see, but before it even hits? It's just wrong.

One of the gas stations here in town swore they would not go up on gas today. So they had a huge line and the police department out there directing traffic. This town has two stoplights-crazy huh?

What I don't get...Oil was 195ish a barrel and gas was 4.00/gal might as well say...well when oil went down to 97-100 barrel why didn't gas go down by half too? The thing that ticks me off..how they can go up say 80 cents in a day and take 2 months to come down the same amt..irks me so much

It's maddening...I think that they are going to blame it on Venezuela. They are/were our 4th largest supplier of oil but they are refusing to give un any oil now so I am sure that that is why they are raising the prices....

My theory is that Venezuela is refusing to supply in order to jack all the prices of oil back up....it's just sickening!!!!!!

Seriously, I just came back from the shopette, and it was 3.53 this evening, now it's 4.49! 96 frickin cents - I couldn't believe it. At first I thought someone was messing with the sign, lol. And they were PACKED too! I'm not lining up to get it at that price!

Oh that's a good point! I forgot I heard something about that on the news- OPEC is lowering production. With Venezuela being idiots now that means we have to kiss more Saudi butt Dudes, I love polar bears and animals as much as anybody does, but we have got to drill like heck until this country can switch to another form of energy. Like, yesterday! We can't keep going like this. My husband makes quite a bit above average for this area and we are still struggling. If he lost his job we'd be toast within a month. If Brazil could switch to sugar cane 30 years ago I think we in the USA can come up with something, don't you?

they are saying it's because the oil refineries along the path of Hurricane Ike had shut down in preparation. So they increased the price of fuel to make up for the shortage that may happen (highly doubtful).

See how fragile we are? A major hurricane and a looney dictator could deal us a blow that would be hard to recover from. The economy is tied in to national security IMO and we are like a bunch of sitting ducks here in America with the dollar falling further every day. It's scary if you think about it.

It said on the news we could be looking at 5.00 a gallon in the next day or two. My husband luckily fueled all the way up on the way home instead of in the morning. Im not sure how much longer alot of people are gonna be able to afford this. something has got to be done to stop this. I mean we are now spending about 20% of our household income on fuel. That is just for our car. Include gas for our stove/heating (which thankfully we dont use that much living in Florida) and it is even more. You know it is bad when you spend more on gas then any other household bill.

Once I converted what we are paying per litre to what you are paying for the gallon, you have it great!! We Canadians are pay $5.25 and up per gallon!! What's even crazier is I live in Alberta and probably a quater of the worlds gas is drilled right here!! ARG!!
