Would it be beneficial for me to have it if I only use a point and shoot camera? Do you need to have Photoshop in order to use it? Is $125 a good deal? Tell me what you know!

I played with a trial version and it was really cool. I don't have a really fancy camera and can't shoot in RAW, but it still did some really cool things to my photos. You don't have to have PS in order for it to work, it's a stand-alone program...BUT the features in Lightroom are available in PSCS3 and CS4, I think - so if you have either of those programs, you can probably skip Lightroom.
I don't know how much it costs, though. I'm not going to get it even though it was cool because I'm planning on upgrading to CS4 soon. |

I don't have it, but the $125 one-hour sale from Amazon is really tempting me to pick it up! I think it normally sells for $300 or so.

$125 is a great price, BUT...if you can qualify for the academic pricing, it's only $99.

Me too! I need to make a decision fast. I have a feeling it might sell out fast.

Yep, it's $99 every day from JourneyEd with the academic discount (if you are the parent of a K-12 student).
I don't have it, but I have CS4. I don't do a lot with my photos anymore (not enough hours in the day), so I probably won't get it anytime soon. I've seen some very cool effects though, so I can see how it would be tempting! |

My friend Jheri swears by it, she pretty much uses it on every photo and her photos always look great. I have it but I never use it unless I need to really adjust white balance on my photos, I like what it does better than PS. I do love the outcome on some of the presets tho.

I have it and I really enjoy using it. $125 is a great deal for it but like others have said, it can be had for $100 if you qualify for the academic discount.

Jenny, I would try downloading the trial and playing. I did that and decided it wasn't for me, but so many people really like the program. I agree with the other ladies about the academic discounts, there are several sites out there. I've used CampusTech and was very happy with them (same price and super fast shipping).

I've been using it for over a year now & love it! I use it on almost all my photos, it's much easier & quicker to edit photos in LR than in PSE (for me anyway). I got my copy through the university bookstore here at the academic price since my DH is a teacher. I'd definitely download the trial from Adobe and try it free for 30 days to see how you like it, there are tons of free presets available online too.

I only have a PnS and I think it saves my pictures and adds a fun factor to them...especially since I scrap with PSP...I can't run all the awesome actions for PS!
I loveee it and have had it over a year.

I love LR. I process most of my photos in it. The best thing about it for me is, you can process photos in batches. I pull out similar photos from a photo shoot, and you can run the same presets on them when you import them. Also, after you've adjusted/processed your photos, you can export them in both full-size and whatever size you designate. I can export my whole batch of photos in full size (takes 10 seconds), then export again at 600x400 (another 10 seconds) for my blog posts. That to me is a HUGE time-saver!
