It's growing under my sink in big rocks. It's so gross I totally freak out every time I see it. I mean, there's some black, like normal mold, but these big rocks are something else. And I think they're the reason we're all sick.
So does anybody know anything about mold removal? Do I need to wear a mask? Use bleach? I'd love some advice if anyone has any!

Get it checked to see what type it is asap. Our last house was full of mold, we were all very sick, and they had to have special people come in to remove it. They had to wear special suits, masks, etc. If it's visible to you, there's probably more underneath the boards as well, and it may be more widespread than you think.
I know more about it than I would like, you should get it checked to make sure it's nothing serious.

Kellie, if you have mold that could highly be the reason everyone is sick and it should not be taken lightly, you need to find the source of it and get rid of it quick. I would definitely call in a professional, mold is very very bad. Please take care!

Yes, please get a professional to come in there and deal with that. If it's that visible to you, it's probably even worse underneath. It probably is causing everyone to be sick.
Maybe your homeowner's insurance can give some recommendations on who can come out to check it out for you. You really don't want to mess around with that kind of mold. |

Oh and I wanted to mention that we were removed from our home when they found ours. The mold was not even visible, it was within the walls, etc. Please get it checked asap.
They tore the house apart we were in, and had to replace everything on the inside. It was not our home, it was a rental from the RCMP, which Tony is a member of. So we just moved to another RCMP home. PM me if you have any questions, ok?

Mold is nothing to mess around with, Kellie. Mold spores can say in human lungs for years sometimes. So my suggestion would be to get out of the house if possible until they get it taken care of. And have professionals do the removal. Mold is scary stuff.
((hugs))

I would definitely call a professional. It can be in more places than what is just visible.

WAIT!!!!!! COME BACK!
What do you call a professional who gets rid of mold? I used to have a leak, and the cabinet under my sink would turn black daily. When the plumber came he fixed the leak, but when I asked him about the mold, he was like, ![]()

Look up mold removal services. Call the health department. Call anyone who'll listen. Obviously I don't know what type of rights you have as a renter in Borneo, but no matter what your landlord needs to be made aware (again) of this mold. Black mold can cause permanent health issues.

We were renting too, unfortunately, the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) are our landlords, and funded by the government. So you can imagine that the house got pretty damn bad before they did anything with it.
((hugs)) Kellie, I think your landlord should be paying for the removal, since it's their home.

I have heard that the black mold is the bad kind and can even be harmful just getting it on your skin. I would defenitely call a professional about having it removed and if you are renting it should be the owners responsibility to do so. Good luck and I hope you can get it cleaned up for you and your families sake soon!!

I haven't read through the thread so sorry if this has been said already. DO NOT try to remove it yourself. I know it sucks, but you need a professional in there to identify what type it is before you start stirring it up. Plus, you should have the rest of the house checked because there may likely be more. I hope it turns out to be harmless!
