Thumbs down FALSE advertising

So, Subway's newest commercials advertise "ANY FOOTLONG FOR $5." I saw one of them come on the TV earlier tonight and so I called up DH and asked him to get us some subs for dinner. When he goes to pay, he asks why the subs WERE NOT $5 each. Then the guy informs him that it's only a small list of 5 subs that are eligible for the $5 price. WTH? The ad said ANY. Turns out, the same not-so-great subs that WERE $5 each for quite a while (ham, turkey, etc.) are still the ONLY ones you can get for $5.... punks. The commercials used to spell that out pretty clearly... but now not so much.

Ya, the commercial clearly states any sub, but when I went in there was a list of the only ones you could get for $5. Just seems wrong.

That is SERIOUSLY annoying. If it says ANY, than it should mean ANY. If I was DH, I would have said "Well then I don't want these subs. Guess you'll have to throw them away". Stupid Subway!!

Subway stinks...

A while back we went in to pick up a quick dinner. One of the subs that we ordered was on the $5 foot long menu, but they charged me $7 for it. Um, what?? Yeah, $7. Why? It had BACON on it and BACON isn't included.

How in the world does that make any sense. The sub COMES WITH BACON yet the bacon costs extra? Ha...I left both subs, walked out and went to Quizno's.

I wrote Subway about it and was sent coupons for several free sandwiches. The whole "any" sub thing is most certainly false advertising and it should be pointed out to them.

Hmm, I haven't seen the any sub ads, but my sub is one of the $5 ones though (veggie, which is actually quite a bit for one with just cheese and veggies on it..lol).

we just went this weekend and were told we could get any sub except one called "the feast" and any steak sub. I got a pizza sub which was five bucks and my husband got the steak sub which was like 7 dollars. The feast is 7.99. Subways are franchised though so maybe the one you went to is not participating in the any sub for five bucks deal. I think if you read the fine print it excludes a few subs and says at participating restaurants only

oh also when they started making my husbands steak sub before anything was cut or put on it they told him you know this isnt a five dollar sub right? Well he really wanted a steak sub so he said he didnt care. We do not like quiznos at all or firehouse subs for that matter or Sobiks. When we get a sub its usually from Publix (our local grocery store). They have a foot long boars head sub where if you get ham and cheese you can get any kind of ham they have and any kind of cheese with no extra cost. I get brown sugar baked ham or honey baked ham and swiss and they put a ton of meat on it way more then subways.

The stores can decide whether or not they want to participate. They really should notify you when you order though.

I used to work at subway....
They have the best cookies. And thier sub rolls are THE most delicious! That doesn't seem right that they should have these advertisements and that the stores are not obligated to participate. They should definitely state that clearly in the commercials.

I had DH grab us Subway last night because of the promo commercial. I always get turkey and the $5 subs before the promo didn't include turkey but with the promo turkey is included now. So we got 2 turkey sandwiches for $10.89. The commercial I saw said any REGULAR 12-inch sub is $5. Here is the ad that tells you which sandwiches are included in the promo:

Yeah, I got the Chicken Bacon Ranch... no extras... and that ad says it's included. Did my Subway give it to me for $5? Nope. Booooo.
