Has any of you ever sold anything on ebay?
I've been doing some fall cleaning (I never spring-clean, I fall-clean!) and I'm pulling out a zillion scrapbook magazines, books, my old flatbed scanner (only good for papers & stuff so it's no use to me since I also have my awesome one), old 35mm cameras and one of those panoramic ones that Zodak tried to popularize but they never took off, my old VHS-C video camera, and so much more old (outdated stuff) that I don't need anymore.... not to mention my old VW bus I could sell & probably get a pretty penny from!!! The stinkin' thing still runs, has a new engine and inspection! It's a camper for god's sake!!! (ok, I can't sell my van!!!) Anyways.... Is it actually worth trying to sell these things or would I be wasting my time? With the new digital era I don't think these things would really sell, do you? If you've sold something on ebay before, was it more of a hassle packing it, shipping it, etc. to actually be worth the money? Or should I just find people to give this stuff to? They're all in great condition, not junk by any means... it all still works and looks good and everything... but I wonder if people want this stuff anymore? I don't know... hmmm.... ![]() |

I've never sold on ebay. I'm far too lazy and would never get stuff to the post office to get it out. We're big on donating to Goodwill. You keep track of what you give, they give you a receipt, and you can claim it all on your taxes which is always a good thing. We donated over $1,000 worth of stuff last year using the TurboTax donations calculator thing. Plus, it goes to people who need things and need help, and can't afford brand new stuff.

I used to sell a lot on ebay but I don't anymore. The postage prices have really climbed the last few years and the ebay/paypal fees are huge now - the last time I tried to sell stuff I was disappointed in how little I ended up with in the end. I might do it now if I had a pricier item to sell - but I wouldn't for anything smallish.

Thanks ladies- both of you convinced me not to go the ebay route!!!
![]() I think I'll bring my stuff over to Goodwill & donate it. I've already brought a bunch of stuff to salvation army in the last couple weeks! I think I'll bring all the electronics I have over to goodwill though. Sounds great to donate it and claim it on taxes!!!! I don't think I'd want to deal with bringing my stuff to the post office, come to think of it! I'd have a baby in tow and it doesn't sound like much fun to lug her in her carseat, plus a bunch of boxes into the post office! |

I used to sell on ebay but my experiences with just how ignorant people can be made me stop. I had three really bad experiences with customers and a couple with sellers and it just soured me. You can sell stuff on craigslist for free. We have had alot of luck with that. Everytime we list something we get tons of sales. (side note Id love to have the VW van...but no way in heck Id sell that if I was you!!)

I did sell some stuff on eBay last fall. The postage rates were just insane, and I hardly made a thing. It wasn't worth the trouble, and I have lots of brand name clothes.
