Default I need camera recommendations!

Not for myself, I've already got my next DSLR picked out... LOL! It's a birthday present for my mom. She has the WORST luck with cameras and every one seems to be either hard to use or takes horrible photos.

I want a point and shoot that easily takes crisp/focused photos. Nothing to expensive and no elaborate features really needed, it's just for general type stuff!

TIA!!!

This is the P&S recommemnded by one of the scrapping mags I read; it's kind of high for a P&S, but they said it was totally worth it.

I love my Nikon Coolpix, and there's a similar model for Canon's (Powershot I think?). Any of those would probably be great.

We bought Benjamin a Canon Powershot. It takes GREAT pictures and you can use it in manual to a limited degree too. I use it when I don't want to take my Rebel.

I've been looking at the Powershots and they seem to get the best/most consistent reviews. I would like to stay with a brand that I'm familiar with (Canon, Nikon) because I think part of the problem is that she's had odd brands in the past.

Another vote for the Canon Powershot line, I had a S2IS before upgrading to my XTi and it was a great little camera. I paid about $350 for it at the time, but they have cheaper models too starting around $150 I think.

Ok I found the one we bought Benjamin. This is probably one of their cheapest ones, so you could definitely go up. But this is one heck of a camera for the size/cost.

DH got a Nikon CoolPix last year around Christmas, it's truly a pocket camera. It's been awesome, we use it a lot, love having it when I don't feel like dealing with the big camera. It's super easy to use, the pictures and videos have been
