Default Jury Duty....sigh...my brain is dead!

I just got done with being on jury duty for a month (off and on due to budget cuts, court holidays and whatever other reason they could find to not have a court session) as an alternate no less and my brain is just dead now! I understand all the whys we should do it and am blessed to have a company that allows me time off - but man I think someone sucked all the mojo and any creativity out of me and I am dying here!

I am soooooooo exaggerating here but not by much of a sample of one of my days on jury duty:

"Sir would you say this is a number 2 pencil that I am holding?"
"Yes."
"Are you certain this is a number 2 pencil?"
"Yes."
"If I turned it to the left, would you still say this is a number 2 pencil?"
"Yes."
"How about if you saw it in a catalog, would you still say it is a number 2 pencil?"
"Yes."
"What is your expertise or background that you have that leads you to know for certain this is a number 2 pencil?"

Witness answers for the next hour on why he/she is an expert and still the attorney asks.....

"If Sally took the train going North at 9:00 am and Bob took the bus going West at 10:00 am and Mary decided she would stay home because she had a headache, would you still say this is a number 2 pencil?"

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Anyone else experience this too?

LOL Darla!

My husband had jury duty for a drunk driving case and he was full of those stories too. He ended up with more knowledge on drunk driving than he ever wanted to have.

a month???!?! Holy moly! I've gotten out of it because of being home with the kids.

But seriously, my hubby had a drunk driving case also... and it lasted like 3 days even though it was totally cut and dry. It was like, "the nurses made mistakes on reading the alcohol level in his blood" right......

I'm a lawyer so I've seen more cases like that than I care to think about! I've even seen cases where jurors fell asleep and the judge would refuse to wake them up. I was also on a case that lasted for a YEAR!

OH my! Don't scare me....I have jury duty on Wednesday. My first time ever. I was kind of happy about it. Only because it gets me out of the house and those of you who know me, know I have a very hard time getting out.

I seriously need a life if I am looking forward to jury duty.

Gosh Darla that must have been excruciating...I've never done jury duty(thank you Military and husband working away from home) so I guess I'll have something to look forward too when I do have to do it...not!

Hopefully you can get back into the swing of things...as long as no one mentions Number 2 pencils!!!!

Eeeeeew! That sounds incredibly boring! I've been called for jury duty twice, but got out of it both times because of the types of cases and the fact that I simply couldn't be impartial due to the nature of the crimes.

I was almost selected for a murder trial jury duty in October. Thankfully got out of that one!

Ahah... that's sounds boring!! And weird... Here in Italy cases lasts at least 6-8 months... sometimes years, before you know how it's going to end up... And I was in law school, but I'm not doing the lawyer because of that...
